Subject: Lyr Add: BLOW THE WIND SOUTHERLY From: Conrad Bladey (Peasant- Inactive) Date: 21 Mar 00 - 06:52 PM BLOW THE WIND SOUTHERLY Blow the wind southerly, southerly, southerly, Blow the wind south o'er the bonny blue sea; Blow the wind southerly, southerly, southerly, Blow bonny breeze my lover to me. They told me last night there were ships in the offing, And I hurried down to the deep rolling sea; But my eye could not see it, wherever might be it, The bark that is bearing my lover to me. Blow the wind southerly, southerly, southerly, Blow the wind south that my lover may come; Blow the wind southerly, southerly, southerly, Blow bonny breeze and bring him safe home. I stood by the lighthouse the last time we parted, Till darkness came down o'er the deep rolling sea, And no longer I saw the bright bark of my lover. Blow, bonny breeze and bring him to me.^^ |
Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Blow the Wind Southerly From: MMario Date: 21 Mar 00 - 09:11 PM Conrad? You've been posting links to midi's or ABC's with most of your lyrics. Does this not have one? (Probably, 'cuz I'm intereseted in it. I always have the hardest time finding tunes for the ones I want to sing.) |
Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Blow the Wind Southerly From: Malcolm Douglas Date: 21 Mar 00 - 09:31 PM A midi can be found under the entry already in the DT for BLOW THE WIND SOUTHERLY. Conrad has given an extra verse. I believe that I have another one somewhere, and will post it when I find the book. Malcolm |

Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Blow the Wind Southerly From: GUEST,me Date: 21 Mar 00 - 09:57 PM Is it not sweet to hear breezes blowing, As lightly they come o'er the deep rolling sea? But sweeter and dearer by far when tis bearing The bark of my true love in safety to me. ^^ |

Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Blow the Wind Southerly From: Malcolm Douglas Date: 22 Mar 00 - 02:36 PM Well, "GUEST,me" beat me to it, though it was just the one breeze when I was a lad! Malcolm |
Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Blow the Wind Southerly From: dick greenhaus Date: 22 Mar 00 - 06:36 PM ON an album called "Tubular Dogs" (lyrics by Les Barker) there's a fine parody--"Breaking Wind Suddenly"-- sung by Alison Younger. Other tracks include "Grey Tunnel Line" (sung by Cyril Tawney, himself) and "Custard Creams"--a wicked parody of "John of Dreams" sung by Bill Caddock. Funny album. Available from Camsco. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Blow the Wind Southerly From: GUEST,me again Date: 22 Mar 00 - 08:58 PM Malcolm, when I first starting singing it there was only one breeze but I found it easier to sing "breezes' than 'the breeze', folking process I guess. |
