There are lots!  To start with, look in the Mudcat Links page; top of this page in little green letters ("links").  Try a few that look promising, and you'll find that each new site provides links to still others.  That's all I'm going to tell you, because it's such fun exploring that I don't want to spoil it for you.  Good luck, and enjoy yourself!

Malcolm

These can all be found from the Links that Malcolm sugessted but I thought I would mention them:

Tha ABC Home Page: http://www.gre.ac.uk/~c.walshaw/abc/ . This site does provide links to the other 2 I am mentioning but I find them useful so here goes.

John Chambers Tune Search: http://trillian.mit.edu/~jc/music/abc/FindTune.html

Richard Robinson's Tune Book: http://www.leeds.ac.uk/music/Info/RRTuneBk/listings.html

One of my favorites is The Tune Web ~ This site contains several good audio files.

And, don't forget this one for hundreds of links to free sheet music sites. If you prefer to cut & paste it is: http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Realm/5747/

This one is one of my favourites on there. It has midis and printable sheet music both.

Henrik Norbeck's site has hundreds of tunes in ABC format, some in GIF.

To find ABCs, MIDIs, GIFs and other formats of individual tunes by their name, try JC's Tunefinder website.

Enter "Wild Dismay" in your home search box, its also here, b but sometimes this doesn't work. Wild Dismay usually will. Also, this Index of e~ tunes is great!

yesterday while deleting files from my computer I came across a couple of pdf files that I had forgotten about. They are tune books and I could not remember where they came from. Luckily they are still in the gozilla archive and they come from here

http://www.ceolas.org/tunes/#pdf

as free downloads to view or print out with acrobat reader. Looks not so good on screen but prints out beautifully
found The Butterfly in the John Walsh one yesterday its a great tune that I have heard before. Having great fun practicing it and reading the comments about the tune in a previous thread. Happy Downloading

If you can handle abc format, a friend in Dublin sent this one The Web-Wide abc Index. My edit/find button doesn't seem to work too well here though, and lots of the tunes don't have names, just file numbers.

Subject: Dates of Composition
From: GUEST,kerry@GilaMountainDulcimers.com

I have been asked to do historical performances and need to find dates on when tunes were first written. If all I can find is what years a tune was most popular, I could go by that also. Can anyone help me with this? Is there a web site I can go to that will list the year the tune was popular along with a search data base? If you could reply to me at kerry@GilaMountainDulcimers.com I would appreciate it.

Andrew Kuntz's invaluable resource  The Fiddler's Companion  is the closest you will get to something like that.  There is no entirely comprehensive list of such things, and you probably won't get dates for everything without doing of lot of research on your own behalf, but that is certainly the place to start.

Here is another good one that I like: http://www.sessioneer.com/home.asp It is very easy to browse through, and they are always adding new ones. You can choose between getting the midi file or the sheet music, or of course both. Have fun Brigie
