I have heard the Singing Kettle sing this and have only a partial memory of the lyrics.. it goes...

"Ever since the day ma dug ate Auntie Bella
Ah've been wonderin jist what kind of dug ah've goat
It's coat's a sort of ~~~~ tawny yella
Wi' a great big hairy collar roon its throat"

The chorus is..

Now whenever people see me they shout Lion!
But ah've never tetlt a lie in all my life
No ah've never telt a lie in all my life

Can anyone tell me where to get the lyrics, or who wrote it?

If you go up to the Search Box, for the DigiTrad song database and type in Lion and hit the Search button, there are several song titles and first lines which come up. Not sure if any of them is the one you are looking for but it might be worht a look.

Sounds like whoever wrote those lyrics has been listening to what's-his-name Foxworthy.... he tells a funny story that those words bring to mind.....

And it has been answered since then; posted by Boab last November, in another of several threads where Doug has asked about the song: ever since the day ma dug ate aunty belle (sic).

I don't recall if anyone has named the writer yet.
