If you can play MP3 files try here for medieval music, or here for renaissance music (all completely legal).

The site changes its setup occasionally so these links may not work properly for very long.

Hi.. I'm sort of a lurker, BUT, you happened to ask a question I feel more than capable to answer! :)

Just some REALLY good names to look for..

Cantiga New World Renaissance Band Owain Phyfe

I don't remember the link (those three are kind of intertwined) but you can find it under New World Renaissance Band at: www.geocities.com/rebbellerose/folkies.html

I know a number of other good bands, but most of them are east coast ren faire bands, (NYRF if you are an east coaster) and I'm not sure how easy it is to get their stuff.. BUT, if you want, most of these guys have links on my page (I think....):

Shaman (med w/ some of their own pagan stuff. interesting mix) Featherstone (mostly instrumental) Clairseach (probaby butchering the spelling! Irish harp)

But those are the ones who come immediately to mind! :)

MimsyB, there are some Medieval (500-1500) & Renaissance (1500-1620 in Germany, 1500-1675 in England) tunes here at the mudcat. Go up to the forum search and type in "period", or "medieval" giving a time-depth of a year or so.

Other tunes can be found by following links from here and here.

Hi, folks!

I know this ain't your usual venue, But since you're such a savvy crew, What would you suggest I do To find some medieval tunes?

(You know, I didn't mean to start out with a rhyme, but it sort of came together that way, so I just went with the flow....!)

Anyhow, I am in the mood for learning some medieval music, maybe with a bit of Renaissance mixed in for spice. Does anybody happen to know of a good link or two for such?
