Randy Burns also included it in lovely civil war medley on his now long-gone 'Of Love and War' 1966 album on ESP - but, for me, the stand-out song in the medley was 'Bright Golden Buttons'. On the strength of that excellent album, I bought a whole lot of other Burns stuff which, unfortunately, turned out to be mostly disappointing.

Bob Gibson — if memory serves — also arranged a trilogy that contained this. First part was The First Battalion, part two was Yes, I See and part three was Two Brothers, then resolved with a reprise of The First Battalion. I learned it back in the '60s when I wasn't too concerned with origins of songs (hanging my head in shame), so I'm a little thin on details of its origins, but if you can find it, it's a great piece of work.

I would recommend the 60s version by Bob Gibson and Hamilton Camp ~~ great if you can find it.

Does any kind person out there have the words for a song which I heard years ago and do not have a name for. It contains the lines "And one wore blue, and one wore grey; all on a beautiful monring." 'Preciated Mike
