Subject: Couldn't Believe my Ears: NICKEL CREEK From: JenEllen Date: 26 Mar 00 - 03:21 PM So...I was driving home 300 miles from walking my dog (don't ask) and happened to catch a bit of music on Tribal Radio. The Yakamas aren't the most descriptive lot, so I had to hunt this up, but these kids are WELL WORTH IT!!! Perfect mix of Bluegrass/Celtic/Lyric/Music...it all seemed to fit just right. If you have the opportunity..pick it up. Won't be dissapointed. (Lighthouse Tale was spectacular as well) |

Subject: RE: Couldn't Believe my Ears: NICKEL CREEK From: Gary T Date: 27 Mar 00 - 01:32 AM First heard them at Winfield years ago, when they were all pre-teens. At that time they did cowboy/western music. Since then they've improved musically and expanded their repertoire quite a bit. They were at Winfield last year, I believe. To check this years line-up, go to www.wvfest.com. |
Subject: RE: Couldn't Believe my Ears: NICKEL CREEK From: SDShad Date: 27 Mar 00 - 10:01 AM For anyone in the Upper Midwest, Nickel Creek will be at the Sioux River Folk Festival at Newton Hills State Park near Canton, South Dakota on August 4-6, 2000. They were here at the Fest a couple of years ago, and these kids are _amazing_. The headline act was Balfa Toujours, but the final set, billed as a Balfa set, was really the two bands combined, ripping into a selection of Cajun and bluegrass music like you wouldn't believe. Trust me. JenEllen's right. Don't pass up a chance to see this band. Chris |
