I would like words and guitar chords for a lullaby I recall from childhood. Words in the song were:

Oh now, there'll come another day
The night is slowly falling
[Something about the cattle calling?]
So saddle up your pony till the morning.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

hi, Bev, welcome to the Mudcat Cafe. The song you are thinking of is the Prairie Lullaby. My mom and dad used to sing me to sleep with it almost every night.

If you will go the Radio archives on the menu bar up top and go back, I think, 3-4 shows and listen, you will hear me singing a version I know, then in the show after that, Mudcatter Kendall Morse called in and sang the complete version.

If you would like me to send you a midi file, please send me your email addy. If you join the Mudcat (it's free with no obligations!), you can send it to me in a Personal Message.) I would post the words Kendall knows, but I lost them in an email glitch. Here are the ones I know:

Tumble in bed, my tired little sleepyhead
The stars are in the sky.
Time that your prayers were said, my little sleepyhead
] To a prairie lullaby.

Saddle up your pony, the sandman's here
To take you down the Trail of Dreams
Tumble in bed, my tired little sleepyhead,
To a prairie lullaby.

Hope this helps.
