It's a Vin Garbutt song ... not sure if that is the title. words I can remember..

Dad's drunk again and he's bought lots of men and friends home from the pub

and they've drunk lots of beer..

etc ..

Now Dad's fell in the coal house and he's woken the whole house..

Does anyone know this song??!

I've been searching for years!!!

Come on Mudcatters - I'm counting on ya now!!

Dad's drunk again and he's brought lot's of men, and their wives home from the pub. There's a shortage of beer but you need have no fear, Bert's gone 'round the back door of the pub, Some-ones playin' the piana,Ah, There using a sledge Hammer,Cruxifing ,"There Goes my heart, But there's a knock at the door and it's bert and once more, He's got the beer so whe're ready to start.

Chorus.

And 'Eh,How we could sing, what fun the night would bring singin' for hour's on end, Once we found the key oh, what harmony those boozy voices could sing, "Heart of my heart." just for a start,"Walkin my baby back home, An' when it comes to the end,it's let sing it again, They don't write them like that anymore.

Mums in the Kitchen tryin' to knock up a snack from the chicken we 'ad this afternoon, Jack says where's the toilet, Mam says down the back, an by the look not a minute to soon, Then a shock filled the whole house,Jack's fell in the coalhouse, He's as drunk as a knewt, but with his face covered black he's not taken aback, He's sing Mamma and the rest follow suite.

Half past one in the mornin',Dad Starts yawnin', He's got to be workin' at Six, A bored audience is watchin' while Kevin is Botchin' and messin' up easy card tricks, But, it's time to go now and Dad's got some how to get them all to go home, But when your all full of beer the last thing you want to hear, Is a tune on his Paper and Comb.

This is out of my head as I never did write the song down hope it helps

A song by the late Pete Betts [ Mudcats Betsy ] methinks not the also late Vin Garbutt.

Both still missed.
