Subject: Dancing: Stavanger Ceilidhs From: Albatross Date: 30 Mar 00 - 09:30 AM Hi any-Stavanger-area-people-interested-in-Irish-dancing- and-music, There is a Ceilidh Dance tomorrow (Friday, 31st March, 9pm ish) at Stavanger Rugby Club (Haugesundsgata 36) with live band (8 ish musicians) a proper caller, a bar with reasonably priced beer and whisky(reasonable for Norway anyway) and a cosy hall with good acoustics for irish/scots tunes to resound in. (Free entry for the first one!) Plan is to have a ceilidh dance last friday in every month. Promoted by Norsk Celtic Club. regards, Albatross |

Subject: RE: BS: Info on: Stavanger Ceilidhs From: Ely Date: 31 Mar 00 - 05:57 PM Stavanger! I spent 3 months over there with my parents and brother in 1992 (Dad was working there for a little while). We loved it--our apartment was on a hillside above the water, near Gamle Stavanger. We woke up one morning to see an enormous smokestack rising out of the harbor almost parallel with out window (mind you, we weren't THAT close to the water) and found that the Queen Elizabeth II was in. She was so big they had to pull her out backwards because she couldn't turn around in the available space. Wish I had known there were ceilidhs. |
