Subject: Lyr Add: PUFF THE KOSHER DRAGON From: GUEST,anonymous Date: 03 May 09 - 04:21 PM PUFF THE KOSHER DRAGON CHORUS: Puff, the Kosher dragon, lived in Palestine And frolicked in the synagogue And drank Shapiro's wine Little Rabbi Goldberg, loved that Kosher Puff And fed him lox and matzah balls And other Kosher stuff. Now Puff became Bar Mitzvah, put on Tefillin every day Wrapped up in his Tallis, oh that's the way he prayed Made Brochos before eating, and he bentched after every meal Imagine how religious it made that dragon feel. Oh Now, there were some people, who did things just for spite They'd curse Jews and attack them, just to get into a fight When Puff the dragon heard this, He roared a mighty roar Now, those wicked people aren't with us any more. Oh Now, Puff the Kosher Dragon found himself a bride Now, little Kosher dragons are his source of joy and pride They'll grow up doing Mitzvos, learning Torah and davening, too And Rabbi Goldberg teaching them, what Kosher dragons do. Oh Now, you who may be listening, may think we're making fun But deep down in this story, there's a moral for everyone If a dragon can wear a Kippa, keep Shabbos and Kosher, too Then you can learn, like Puff did, how to be real good Jews. Oh |

Subject: RE: Puff the Kosher Dragon From: robomatic Date: 07 Mar 05 - 05:37 PM There was a version I heard once a generation ago after the verse wherein Rabbi Goldberg tells Puff that Jewish dragons don't eat port: Puff the Magic Dragon let out a mighty roar And little Rabbi Goldberg isn't living any more.... implying that you better not drag the ham away from the dragon. |

Subject: RE: Puff the Kosher Dragon From: Charlie Baum Date: 26 Jun 97 - 11:26 PM Actually, Susan, the Jewish Whiffenpoof song was more of a nostalgic remembrance than a request for lyrics. (If I *really* need the lyrics, I can ask my friend Ira, who knows them.) --Charlie Baum |

Subject: RE: Puff the Kosher Dragon From: Charlie Baum Date: 26 Jun 97 - 02:27 AM I remember hearing this in college, in the early 70s, down at the kosher kitchen. Now if I could only remember the Jewish words to the Whiffenpoof Song... We are ppor little lambs who have gone astray, baa, baa, baa But we'll all be forgiven on Yom Kippur Day, baa, baa, baa. --Charlie Baum |

Subject: Puff the Kosher Dragon From: nsklar@hornet.liunet.edu Date: 23 Jun 97 - 02:34 AM Allright, so this is weird, but does anybody know where I can find the lyrics to Puff the Kosher Dragon? (Yup, it's to the tune of the other Puff, the one who gets stoned and eats pork.) I learned it 10-15 years ago when I was a kid and would can't remember how it ends. I've no idea who wrote it, and none of the searches I've tried have been successful. But with parameters like "Jewish song parodies", I'm not especially surprised. My undying gratitude to anybody who might be able to set me in the right direction. Thanks. |
