Subject: Looking for the name of a tune... From: Eluned Date: 07 Apr 00 - 01:54 PM ....this tune was written by one of the King Henrys, I think the eight, and was also used as the opening theme for a children's show in the 60's called "The Gentle Giant". The Lyrics start out, "As I went out one morning..." ('though I'm afraid many songs of that era start that way). Any clues? I need the name to find the lyrics...... |

Subject: Lyr Add: EARLY ONE MORNING From: Dave (the ancient mariner) Date: 07 Apr 00 - 03:15 PM The song is called: EARLY ONE MORNING. One of the first songs I learned to sing; and a favourite still. Yours, Aye. Dave
Here are the lyrics.
Early one morning, just as the sun was rising
Oh gay is the garland, and fresh are the roses,
Remember the vows that you made to your Mary,
Thus sang the poor maiden, her sorrows bewailing |

Subject: RE: Looking for the name of a tune... From: Petr Date: 07 Apr 00 - 03:31 PM I believe that tune is from the 19th century and not by Henry the 8th. Supposedly he wrote Greensleeves although it was not uncommon to take credit for someone elses work. Hey Friendly, whats for supper Fried Chicken, rusty. Petr. |

Subject: RE: Looking for the name of a tune... From: Barbara Date: 07 Apr 00 - 08:32 PM Welcome to Mudcat, bargro. People are much more likely to help you find a song if you start a new thread and and put some of the song words in the title. You do that by clicking on the words upper left that say "START A NEW THREAD". Use the Lyr.Req. prefix (if you can see how) and call the thread something like -- PP&M, I'll Walk In the Rain. I'm sorry I don't know that one. Blessings, BArbara |
Subject: Lyr Add: FOR BABY (For Bobbie) From: Greg F. Date: 07 Apr 00 - 09:12 PM BARGO- This should be it- enjoy. FOR BABY (For Bobbie) (John Denver) Cherry Lane Music Co., Inc. -ASCAP I'll walk in the rain by your side, I'll cling to the warmth of your tiny hand. I'll do anything to help you understand, I'll love you more than anybody can. And the wind will whisper your name to me, Little birds will sing along in time, The leaves will bow down when you walk by, And morning bells will chime. I'll be there when you're feeling down, To kiss away the tears if you cry. I'll share with you all the happiness I've found, A reflection of the love in your eyes. And I'll sing you the songs of the rainbow, Whisper all the joy that is mine. The leaves will bow down when you walk by, And morning bells will chime. {repeat verse 1} The leaves will bow down when you walk by, And morning bells will chime.

Subject: RE: Looking for the name of a tune... From: Eluned Date: 07 Apr 00 - 10:15 PM I was also vague about the lyrics (I should have made that clear in my thread-opener), so I didn't think a lyric search would do me any good; and as I hoped, the Mudcatters came through! Thanks, guys! Right about the Friendly Giant, but you have to admit it's been a looooong time! (if I can admit it, you can Again, thanks! |
