Subject: Cathal McConnell Update From: InOBU Date: 10 Apr 00 - 08:52 AM Dear Friends: I have had the great pleasure of having Cathal stay with me this weekend, and to hear his new CD Long Expectant Comes At Last. I think it will be a break through album, and be loved well beyond the Irish music community. It was three years in the making, and is a brilliant accomplishment. It is on Compass Records, and widely available, e-mail info@compassrecords.com if it is not at a tower records near you. Really listen to this folks, I know you will love it. Sorcha Dorcha had the great honnor of Cathal sitting in on our Sunday rehersal, and the resultant imparted knowlege will be heard in our coming gig at the Sidewalk Cafe, 6th Street and Ave. A 8 - 9 pm april 21, no cover, hope to see you all. All the best Lorcan (Lor or Larry which ever you wish) Otway |

Subject: RE: Cathal McConnell Update From: DebC Date: 10 Apr 00 - 10:10 AM Good to hear that you got a chance to have cathal sit in with you. I knew cathal when I lived in Edinburgh and we always had a great time. I even have a few cathal stories all me own. Is this gig happening in Scotland? I am assuming this as I have not heard that cathal was coming to the States for a while. If you see him again, please give him my warmest regards. Debra Cowan |

Subject: RE: Cathal McConnell Update From: InOBU Date: 10 Apr 00 - 04:00 PM Dear Debra: Thanks for the observation that I forgot to say what country the gig is in... Sorcha Dorcha is playing in New York City, on April 21... and Cathal will be back here, (in NY, at my place) in a few hours. He is doing some radio interviews, so I will indeed send him your best. By the time SD is playing on the 21st. Cathal will, I belive, be back in Scotland. All the best Larry |

Subject: RE: Cathal McConnell Update From: Áine Date: 10 Apr 00 - 05:35 PM A Lorcán, Nach fear glic thusa! The word about Cathal's CD has been out and about for a few weeks now. All reviews have been almost estactic about the music -- Náire ormsa for not ordering it yet; but, now that the university fees for Son No. 1 are paid, it's the first one on my list to get! Please tell Cathal congratulations for his contribution to the music. Remember what I told about you why SD was so special? An t-anam, muise! Slán go fóill, Áine |

Subject: RE: Cathal McConnell Update From: GUEST,Rich(stupidbodhranplayerwhodoesn'tknowanybet Date: 11 Apr 00 - 06:03 PM I've had that disc for about a month and ahalf. It's great. Of particular note, take a listen to "The Hurricane of Reels". He sang this for a handful of us a couple years ago when he first started threatening this CD. It has the title of tons of tunes worked into the lyrics, and the chorus is a lilted version of the last tune in each verse! This should definitely be on everyone's "must-have" list. All the best, Rich |

Subject: RE: Cathal McConnell Update From: InOBU Date: 11 Apr 00 - 06:15 PM Hi Folks: Cathal is on his way back over, so I will read him the new messages and post his responce. He taped WNYCs Oscar Brand show today, so I expect those who can listen in will enjoy it, he was also on Lenard Lopates show, which I understand is available on line. For New Yorkers, he can be heard at the Irish Arts Center on Monday the 17th, check the number, off the top of my head it is 212 757 3318, but I may be wrong, check directory information. If there is interest, I will ask Bill Oachs for the info and post it. Cheers Larry |
