I enjoyed it while I was there but when I came back after sorting out my techinical problems, everybody had gone. I had been swaping sound cards graphic cards and modem cards yesterday for various reasons and it looks like I hadn't plugged the CD lead in correctly when I had finished playing and that was stopping my mike input working.

use the link at the top of the page.. when you get there bookmark it.. (otherwise you have to search for old hearme threads to find it)

you can open the room anytime.. just start up a thread to say that you are there and someone will usually join you....

there is a regular sing on sunday evenings at 7pm Mudcat(eastern US)time... not sure what that is in the UK.. but if you drop Jon Freeman a line.. he'll be able to tell you....

I gather a microphone is useful. Will the one I use for my voice recognition work, or do I have to get out the ones from my daughter's band and fiddle around with jack adapters, and do I need anything special in the sound card situation?

Ah - I think I get it. I may in fact have successfully downloaded the plugin and set up the settings - but I can't tell unless someone else from this site is there too in which case text chat or sound chat is possible?

Well, I went out and when I came back I found new posts but I can't find anyone there. Almost 6pm UK time - 1pm New York time. Too D.. early in California and well past my bedtime in Oz.

I think I have mentioned this before but an alternalive method of finding out if you can be heard is to go the the Hearme General Chat channel as it is nearly always occupied. This can be accessed from http://members.tripod.co.uk/jonbanjo/rooms/rooms.htm. One word of warning though, there are some very strange people who go there.
