I would like to learn this song. I did a search for the chords and these are the chords I find every single time, however... when I listen to it, I'm sure that the song is in E minor. The verse chords sound like Em and D. Can anybody tell me what's going on here?

Kat,

It's a Guy Clark song from "Boats to Build (Asylum 61442-2).

Picasso's Mandolin
(Guy Clark)

C7                                             F    C7
Now Picasso said in 1910, I'm gonna paint me a mandolin
C7
It could be cubes it could be curves
C7            F          C7
I like to mix paint with nerve
C7
I load my brush and fire away
Paint me a hole in the light of day

             G
Well you can play it straight or play it from left field
    Am                      F
You got to play it just the way you feel
G
Come on boys, play it again
Am                   F
Play it on Picasso's mandolin

C7
Well it's colouring books and drinking wine
                  F           C7
It's hard to stay between the lines
C7
There ain't no rule if you don't break it
                             F     C7
There ain't no chance if you don't take it
C7
The damdest thing he'd ever heard
Was trying to learn a thing from a Mockingbird

             G
Well you can play it straight or play it from left field
    Am                      F
You got to play it just the way you feel
G
Come on boys, play it again
Am                   F
Play it on Picasso's mandolin

C7
Now Picasso said before he died
                              F       C7
There's one more painting I'd like to try
C7
Well the doctor held is breathe and then
                 F    C7
Picasso nailed a mandolin
C7
He was born in Spain and died in France
He was not scared of baggy pants

             G
Well you can play it straight or play it from left field
    Am                      F
You got to play it just the way you feel
G
Come on boys, play it again
Am                   F
Play it on Picasso's mandolin

G
Play it straight or play it from left field
    Am                      F
You got to play it just the way you feel
G
Come on boys, play it again
Am                   F
Play it on Picasso's mandolin

Ed
