Subject: RE: Old Movie Song Lyrics From: Bill Date: 25 Jun 97 - 02:27 AM Howdy Jack, I don't know for sure which versions fo these songs were used in the movies that you mention, but I would suggest checking DT's versions to see if they are what you need. I quickly found 4 versions of Clementine (you probably want the first one) and wrangler brought me to Little Joe, the Wrangler which may be what you want. Allinkausay, Bill |

Subject: Lyr Add: FOLLOW THE RIVER (N Washington,D Tiomkin) From: Jim Dixon Date: 02 Jan 05 - 05:55 PM The following lyrics are copied from http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Lounge/2782/follow_river.txt and corrected by listening to a sound sample. FOLLOW THE RIVER Words, Ned Washington. Music, Dimitri Tiomkin. Follow the river. The river knows the way. Come to me, I pray. I miss you more each day. Follow the river wherever you may be. Follow the river back to me. Sometimes I feel like I could jump to the moon and tear the sky apart. Does it matter how full the moon if you've an empty heart? Bring back the great love, the love that once we knew. Make my dream come true, the dream I had with you.... [Sung by James Stewart in the film "Night Passage," 1957. Also performed by the London Studio Symphony Orchestra and the John McCarthy Singers on "The Western Film World of Dimitri Tiomkin," Unicorn CD #2011, 1980.] |
Subject: RE: Old Movie Song Lyrics From: Jim Dixon Date: 05 Jan 05 - 01:52 AM I transcribed the following excerpt from a sound sample. It sounded as if it came straight from the soundtrack. YOU CAN'T GET FAR WITHOUT A RAILROAD Words, Ned Washington. Music, Dimitri Tiomkin. You can't get far without a railroad. You can't get far without a railroad. You gotta have an engine and you gotta have a track. Oh, you can't get far without a railroad. [Sung by James Stewart in the film "Night Passage," 1957; also on the various-artists album "Wand'rin' Star," Bear Family CD #16166, 1999.] |
Subject: RE: Old Movie Song Lyrics From: katlaughing Date: 20 Aug 05 - 11:16 PM Just heard the two above in the movie noted with James Stewart. His bio says the only reason he took the part was to show off his accordion skills. It was great! |
