Western North Carolina MUDCAT Gathering

Thank you Max. MUDCAT WORKS!!!!!!

Tonight I met with David Whitaker ddw) to play some music. Dave and his wife, along with another couple came down from Canada to North Carolina. We met at a local Coffee House outside of Hendersonville NC. What a great evening of music. Opal's nephew, Jody, stopped in and did some great flat-picking.

I thank you, Max, and the Mudcat Site, for this new friendship.

Some times I get upset with those who question this site, because at times like this I realize it's true value. We have a common bond, our music. This site has added to my life, Thanks again Max.

PS I know, I know, I will send in a support check for this year.

Great report, lloyd. Thanks for a really good warm-fuzzy.

Why is your number changing? Age? Waistline? Number of guitars?

I lost my cookie. I became a GUEST, so I had to make a new one, but it said lloyd61 was not available, so I took lloyd62. I will 62 in August so I had an early birthday.

I'm sorry I missed out on this one! However, come fall I'll be in Western NC (albeit without a car...evil parents!) so I'll see everybody!

We MAY be out in Boone in a few years...my sister has her heart set on going to Appalachian State, so we very well might move...of course by that time I'll be out of school and working...probably somewhere else...

Well, gosh-darn, here you folks are visiting virtually in my back yard (well, OK, so there's a few mtns in-between) and first I hear of it it's over! Not that I could contribute much, my concern with music is mostly a great appreciation for it, solitary singing, drumming now and then, and a past history of amateur public performances. But (*wicked grin to Caitlin*) .... I _DO_ have a car.....

Hi folks — just got back to the old computer after a couple of weeks off, so I tho't I'd give my side of this story.

First, Eluned and Caitrin, you missed it, not getting to hear Lloyd and Opal and Opal's nephew, Jody. Fine voices, beautiful material … and Jody is an absolute DEMON with a flatpick — guitar of mandolin. Lloyd tells me he's hell on wheels with a banjo, too, but didn't have it along the night he was with us.

If you hear of Lloyd being involved in a festival, I highly recommend trying to get there. He's also a good storyteller — has something interesting to say about just about every song he does.

I'm heading back to WNC in late June and I'm hoping we can get together again. Other M'catters would certainly be welcome, so let's year from ya.

And 'Spaw — I'm gonna go that route some time soon just so we can have a session, OK?

cheers,

david
