Subject: RE: Back Door Man From: marcelloblues Date: 22 Apr 00 - 01:51 PM this song was in an old 60's record willie dixon made. I'm not sure but very probably the title is I AM THE BLUES, contaning YOU SHOOK ME, LITTLE RED ROOSTER, BUILT FOR COMFORT and many others. I'll take the lyrics you've send and try to learn it, so thank you very much. Cheers everybody (happy watermelon in easter hay) |
Subject: RE: Back Door Man From: Lonesome EJ Date: 22 Apr 00 - 01:42 PM John Hammond sings "you men eat your dinner Coal dust n' beans I eat more chicken any man ever seen" As for Morrison...his phrasing of "I eat more chick 'n any man ever seen" gives at least a double-entendre to it. Which I think is entirely appropriate, by the way. |

Subject: RE: Back Door Man From: JenEllen Date: 22 Apr 00 - 03:28 AM As far as the origional lyrics go, it's a Southern time thing. The guys with no women to cook for them, hit the can'o'beans. The backdoor man has women willing to take the time to fry him a chicken. As far as what Jim Morrison meant? It's anyone's guess! *bg* ~Elle |

Subject: RE: Back Door Man From: Gary T Date: 21 Apr 00 - 11:40 PM A back door man/back door lover is one who comes and goes through the back door of the house, so as not to be seen by the neighbors. Typically the woman involved is considered to be another fellow's woman, possibly wife. Sometimes the man is said to have jumped the fence (backyard fence). Chicken? I don't know nuthin 'bout no chicken.

Subject: Back Door Man From: GUEST,CBJames Date: 21 Apr 00 - 10:43 PM "Give me your chicken Eat your pork an beans I'll eat my chicken like no man ever seen Yeah I'm your back door man What the little girl don't know but the big girl understands" This was on the DOORS album several years ago. It sure doesn't sound like they actually wrote it. Sounds much more like an old blues tune. I looked in the Digitrad but nothing jumped out. Anybody know this one? It seems to all sorts of possibilities for scurilous interpretation. I'd really like to know what chicken's got to do with it?? jb |
