Hi, There I too am searching for this song, I listened to an old recording in the 1940's, I believe the crooner was Gene Austin. I looked for it on youtube and I could not find it. I do know the late Robert Goulet recorded it. I hope your quest will be gained.

What a blast! So many of those songs are well loved. Thanks for reminding us of some old favorites and telling us of some with which we are not familiar. It's like being given tasty candy.

(Russ Morgan's theme) Sentimental Gentleman from Georgia Stars Fell on Alabama, Take Me in Your Arms, Emeline, Lilacs in the Rain, Forgotten Deams (which is one of my unsung favorites),Hands Across the Table, Riverboat Shuffle w/Hoagy, One Morning in May w/Hoagy...(it was Hoagy's mother's favorite song), Blue Skirt Waltz, Blonde Sailor, Moonlight Love(music by Claude Debussy Afternoon of a Faun), Skat Song, Mood Indigo w/ Duke Ellington (although Irving Mills was credited with the lyric}, Carolina Rolling Stone, plus many I can't remember. Of course,in the half century of his writings, he had his share of "dogs" (as he called them): Yep the Zep Came Over, I Wish There Was a Television to Heaven etc He had numerous sonnets printed in Walter Winchell's column...later published as "For Those in Love"

Larry, the name "Mitchell Parish" rings a bell from songs of the 1930-40 era I heard on the radio, years ago, but can't recall a single one - "Take me in your arms" doesn't rin a bell.

Mind posting a "song-list" of some of your father's other writing?

Tomorrow has arrived and I found a very early US cope of the European Sensation...TAKE ME IN YOUR ARMS (Libe War Es Nie) American lyric by Mitchell Parish, German lyric by Fritz Rotter, music by Fred Markush. Copyright 1931 by Fred. Markush; 1932 Musikalienhandlung Berlin and American Lyric C. 1932 by Mills Music (now would belong to EMI). I think my copy was one of the earliest and featured Ralph Kirbery "The Dream Singer" on the cover. I don't think that Arthur Freed had anything to do with this song.

This is the first copy I ran across this morning, so I don't know who else was a featured artist. I know that it was a hit in the early thirties. I'm sure I have at least 3-4 different copies. At this hour of the A.M., the only thing I can tell you as gospel is that Mitchell Parish did write the English lyric to "Take Me in Your Arms" Tomorrow I will dig up a copy of the sheet music and supply some of the other information. I also know that it was sung in a musical review called Star Dust, the songs of Mitchell Parish. It was sung as spoof by a female singer in a mock Eastern Europe accent. Larry Parish

HI...I'm new to this site and just surfed on looking for info on an old song...hope someone can please help. I am looking for any info on a song from the 1920s or 1930s...which I think is called "Take me in your arms"..From what I've been able to find out so far...it seems this could have been done by Ruth Etting in 1932 and perhaps written by a Fritz Rotter and Arthur Freed...with English lyrics by Mitchell Parish...(At least that's the info someone sent mte). The lyrics go like this: "Take me in your arms..before you take your love from me...take me in your arms..and then goodbye. Blind me with your kiss...(Then another part mentions "sadness" into "gladness"" Someone mentioned this could have been a German song...since "English lyrics" are stated..and Rotter was German, evidently...IF..this is the song I'm looking for...I've searched all over and can't get information..history..as to when it was performed, etd. I would appreciate any info, as to when this song is from...where I can get the lyrics..and who exacty wrote it..and sang it..and where I could get a recording or miidi of it online..Wow!
