I would suggest looking into some of works of Dennis Doyle. You can get his "Celtic Songbook" in a few days and though its not a wedding songbook it contains many appropriate tunes such as St. Patrick Breastplate (Lorica). You may want the CDs "Comtemplative Celt" and the "Abbess" to accompany the book.

I agree with cleod, Donal agus Morag is the best song for a wedding - if you speak Irish gaelic. Altan do a brilliant version on their album Harvest Storm and they also give the words and translations.

I sang a song at my friends wedding which went down very well. It's called Dark Inniseoghan. Its about a soldier who searches for his true love and finally finds her in the penultimate verse. The air is stunning. The Northern Irish band Deanta do a very good version of the song - the chords are quite easy so there should be no need to find the music score.

Hi

What about "Red is the rose". It's a beautiful song and has some appropriate lines,

"You choose the road love and I'll make the vow,

and I'll be your true love for ever."

You'll need to change some of it but that should be easily done.

The tune's easy to, if you don't already know it, it is sung to "Loch Lomond"......"You take the high road and I'll take the low road...etc"

I recently sang a duet with a good friend of mine at my wedding. My wife processed to "Wild Mountain Thyme" with a single word change. During the final verse I change "would surely find another" to "would never find another". Being Scottish in decent and my wife being Irish I thought this a good choice for a processional. I wore a kilt and our wedding was meant to honour our Lord, and our heritage. We exchanged wedding rings and also exchanged claddauh rings which are traditional Irish wedding rings.

I am looking for a lovely, traditional Irish/Celtic song for my good friend to sing at my wedding ceremony in September. (I say traditional only because I need to provide the accompanist with sheet mustic; newer songs are fine if sheet music is available.)
