From: GUEST,JenEllen

I'm trying to find a song containing those lyrics. I tried the DT with no luck, and I don't know the title of the song either. The chorus goes something like:

Love is a precious thing I'm told
Burns just like West Virginia coal
But when the fire dies down, it's cold
There ain't no ash will burn

Any help on just what it is and where I can get it would be greatly appreciated ~Elle

Oops, I didn't check the date; posted a request for the tune on the other thread. JenEllen, do you know the tune? I don't have MIDI stuff; can you figure out ABC or do-re-mi?

Singing & dancing,
CH.

The song they brought up was as follows, will send along 'do-re-mi's once I get a chance to play around with it a bit....MMario, were there other verses?

I have seen snow on summer days
I have seen rain on cloudless days
Some things are always bound to change
But there ain't no ash will burn
Love is a precious thing I'm told
Burns just like West Virginia coal
But when the fire dies down it's cold
There ain't no ash will burn

You say this life is not your lot
And I can't be something that I'm not
Can't stoke a fire that we ain't got
There ain't no ash will burn
Love is a precious thing I'm told
Burns just like West Virginia coal
But when the fire dies down it's cold
There ain't no ash will burn

In every life there comes a time
When there are no tears left here to cry
Leave something dear behind
There ain't no ash will burn
Love is a precious thing I'm told
Burns just like West Virginia coal
But when the fire dies down it's cold
There ain't no ash will burn
There's one lesson I have learned
There ain't no ash will burn

I have a beautiful arrangement of the song on a tape of a staff concert from the 1986 Puget Sound Guitar Workshop, by some fantastic bluegrass musicians whose names, of course, I've forgotten. Oh, hey, I remembered two of them: John Reischmann and Cliff Perry. Thank you, brain. JenEllen, if you'd like to send me your address via a personal message I can send you a copy. That is, I can add you to the list of people I'm supposed to send tapes to (!)

Aloha,
Mark

No Ash Will Burn
I have seen snow that fell in May
And I have seen rain on cloudless days
Somethings are always bound to change
There ain’t no ash will burn

Love is a precious thing I’m told
It burns just like West Virginia coal
But when the fire dies down it’s cold
There ain’t no ash will burn

You say this life is not your lot
Well I can’t be something that I’m not
We can’t stoke a fire that we ain’t got
There ain’t no ash will burn

In every life there comes a time
Where there are no more tears to cry
We must leave something dear behind
There ain’t no ash will burn

There is one lesson I have learned
There ain’t no ash will burn

Ain't No Ash Will Burn, written by Walt Aldridge, and first released in 1989. (No Ash Will Burn and Ain't No Ash Will Burn are in this instance the same song.)
