Subject: RE: Art Thieme Recordings - Now on CD! From: Art Thieme Date: 20 Aug 03 - 11:43 PM Stefan, Thanks so much. Your entire site is a gem !!! I'm honored to be a part of it. What a great job you've done showcasing so many of us old folkies. -------- I'm going to send you a personal message quite soon. Just a note to those interested: I'll be hanging out at the FOX VALLEY FOLK AND STORYTELLING FESTIVAL over Labor Day. That's in Geneva, Illinois (USA) on a beautiful island in the middle of the Fox River---right in Downtown Geneva. I just might even do a song or whatever if they'll let me. I've not sung anything anywhere since 1997 but open-G tuning on the banjo is something I can almost do a song on once in a while. We'll see. It would be great to see some Mudcatters out there !!! Subject: RE: Art Thieme Recordings - Now on CD! From: Art Thieme Date: 21 Aug 03 - 12:03 AM And YES, there are a ton of great recordings on CD now at FOLK LEGACY RECORDS. www.folklegacy.com I just got their wonderful CD release of the late JIM RINGER---the one with "California Joe", "Every Bush And Tree", John Prine's "Paradise" and Craig Johnson's "New Harmony". I'd worn out my old LP and it's just great to Jim's voice digitized and sounding so wonderful. Sandy has done such a wonderful job on this label for all these last 30 years or so. And now Gordon Bok and Bill Staines and Edna Ritchie and the Beech Mountain North Carolina folks---Frank Proffitt and Lee Monroe Presnell---so many grand singers, Annie Muir, Ed Trickett, KENDALL MORSE too, Hedy West, Bob and Ron Copper, Helen Schneyer, Jonathan Eberhardt. People, check 'em out. Please !! You can't go wrong. All the best to you all, Art Thieme |
Subject: RE: Art Thieme Recordings - Now on CD! From: Stilly River Sage Date: 18 Jan 07 - 07:03 PM I've dug out this thread from the Forum, looking one with Art's name in the title to catch Art's eye to say "Thanks!" again. Your package arrived yesterday and I look forward to listening to some of the work you've been doing with your old cassette recordings. As the title says, they are indeed now on CD! Art put 'em there! Maggie (SRS) |
Subject: RE: Art Thieme Recordings - Now on CD! From: GUEST,Art Thieme Date: 18 Jan 07 - 09:51 PM SRS, I'm glad they got there O.K. But here's a warning of sorts: Listen straight through as the different tracks do NOT mean you're going to the next song. All seems to play well enough to hear the material, but I've yet to figure how to not have 20 or more tracks to a given song. Such is life. Working with these new tech things makes me feel like I'm the sorcerer's apprentice. Hope you can hear 'em alright!? Art |
Subject: RE: Art Thieme Recordings - Now on CD! From: Rex Date: 11 Apr 07 - 04:36 PM Hello Art, I'm enjoying my copy of these great songs of yours. Thanks for putting them on a CD and sending it to me. I'll be heading off for Cody early tomorrow for their Cowboy Songs and Range ballads. Some of your old pals will be there. I'll send them your regards. Adios, Rex |
