For those of you who like to keep track of these things, today is the 100th anniversary of KC Jones' wreck. Play a few versions of it in tribute today.

There was a nice feature on Casey Jones on NPR's Weekend Edition Sunday this morning. Included clips from several versions of the song. I recognized Mississippi John Hurt and Jerry Garcia. You can listen to the feature at NPR's website: http://search.npr.org/cf/cmn/cmnpd01fm.cfm?PrgDate=04/30/2000&PrgID=10 (Sorry, I don't know how to blue clicky.) There's a museum at Jones's home in Jackson, Tennessee. One bit of trivia I learned there that wasn't mentioned on NPR was that Casey's widow never remarried and didn't appreciate the line in the song about "You'll get another papa on the C&O[?] line"

As I recall, the story said that his real name was John Luther Jones, and Casey was a nickname.
