Lyr Req: 'you the music, i the dancer'- McKen

Hi all,

i am desperately looking for more information about a song that contains the following lyrics( might be in other order): ' you the music, i the dancer, you are the night, and i am the day you are the call, and i the answer'

elsewhere, it goes: 'yoiu and i are like two rivers that together run to sea when we meet, we'll be lost forever lost forever you and me'

it must have been performed by Joe and Antoinette McKenna, together with her sister Mary Bergin, at the 1998 Bodhrán Days: Summer School for the Musically Inclined, organised by the Boston College Irish Studies Program.

I have no idea of the title or wether it was written by the performers or not.

Can anyone give me some information?

This song is called The Call and the Answer, I believe; De Danaan recorded it. I have sung it at two weddings. I do not know the name of the album...but here are the lytics as I learned them...

No, definitely Eleanor Shanley. The info is fresh in my mind as I just bought both CDs on Saturday at the Arkansas Scottish Festival at Lyon College in Batesville. I had passed over the albums many times when they were new since they featured neither Maura O'Connell nor Dolores Keane.

It was not until I saw Eleanor Shanley on the Gael Force TV show that I realized what I had been missing. I made a few half hearted attempts at locating them since then, but had not found them until Saturday.

In addition to The Call And The Answer, she sings two other Phil Colclough songs, Catalonia and Mandela plus Taim I Mo Shui and Carrickfergus. I prefer 1/2 Set In Harlem just a bit ~~ two more Colclough compositions, Lights Across The Bay and The Snowy Cordillera, and Restless Farewell, If Anything Happened To You, Glasgow Lullabye, and Operator. Definitely recommended listening!

As to Frank's mentioning Joe and Antoinette McKenna, I don't know if they ever recorded it, I couldn't find it anyway. I did find it by the Dubliners.

As for the writer, Phil Colclough, I found little information of value, other than an impressive array of songs, including Song For Ireland in addition to those mentioned above. Perhaps someone else out there has more about him.

I have been looking for this song for the longest time, an older lady sang it at the end of a great session in Foleys bar in Cork. I fell in love with the song and have found it really hard to find. Hopefully someone can learn it in time for my wedding in Feb.

So happy to read those lyrics again,

would you believe i spent the night with joe mc kenna as he is my first cousin and played great music. He sang one song only and that was it. Its a a great song and its the one he always sings.
