Subject: Fire, flood etc. From: Alison Date: 28 Jun 97 - 09:14 PM Hi I caught the tail end of this song on TV a few years back. I think it was being sung at an Aussie festival. It was all about the things farmers were having to battle against. The choruses were each slightly different but went along the lines of.... "We've had fires/floods before, and we'll have fires/floods again." Anyone have any ideas. Slainte Alison |

Subject: RE: Fire, flood etc. From: Barry Finn Date: 28 Jun 97 - 11:37 PM One of Bogle's best, called "Now I'm Easy" or refered to as the Cocky Farmer. It's in the DT. The flying doctor refers to the present day doc that can be flown into the remote areas & the gental old black gin would be an elderly black woman from the Outback, with caregiving skills. The Aussies out here would be better able than I, for more in debt info, or to correct any misinformation that I'm passing on here. Very nice song. Barry |

Subject: RE: Fire, flood etc. From: Alison Date: 29 Jun 97 - 05:30 AM Hi No its not "Now I'm easy." I play it quite regularly. A good song which falls into my category of "Music to slash your wrists to." Thanks for trying though. Slainte Alison |

Subject: RE: Fire, flood etc. From: Barry Finn Date: 30 Jun 97 - 01:16 AM How many fire&rain&flood songs are out there & music to slash your wrists by, there's two more looooong threads to get going. Sorry I wasn't even close, I'm going to find some English steel & some Belfast linen. I How do Aussies feel about Eric Bogle's popular(overdone) oI songs (Ha, Ha 3rd thread)? I'd say he's well respected as /I\ a singer/songwriter although his parodies are prefered over /\ the orignals, due mainly to being over done (ha, ha we can start this one again). Anyway if I come across something closer to what you're looking for I'll ship it out. Barry (That's New Engand) - I'm trying to keep my sense of humor. Imitation is the best form of flattery |

Subject: RE: Fire, flood etc. From: alison Date: 30 Jun 97 - 01:39 AM Hi Barry, I always thought the "fiendish blade was German made, but the rope was Belfast linen." I was always very fond of "William Bloat" being a Belfast girl myself. Thanks for your continued help. Slainte alison P.S. I'll be there when you start your "Music to slash you wrists to " thread! |
