Subject: see your momma = lyrics?

Years ago on an old 78 from the 20's or 30's I heard a song with these words: You gotta see your momma everyday or you won't see momma at all.... Does anyone know where I can find the rest of the song?

Ruth Brown's song "the chair" reminds me of it. Come to think of it, I'd like to get those words too.

Aha! I found it!
-Joe Offer-

YOU'VE GOT TO SEE MAMMA EVERY NIGHT (OR YOU CAN'T SEE MAMMA AT ALL)
(Con Conrad-Billy Rose) recorded by Peggy Lee in 1956. Available on her "Black Coffee" CD.

You've Got to See Mamma Every Night (or You Can't See Mamma at All)
You've got to kiss Mamma, treat her right
Or she won't be home when you call
If you want my company
You can't fifty-fifty me
You've Got to See Mamma Every Night (or You Can't See Mamma at All)

Monday night I sat alone
Tuesday night you didn't phone
Wednesday night, you didn't call
Thursday night, the same old stall
You've Got to See Mamma Every Night (or You Can't See Mamma at All)

Friday night, you dodged my path
Saturday night, you took your bath
Sunday night, you called on me,
But you brought three girls for company
You've Got to See Mamma Every Night (or You Can't See Mamma at All)

You've Got to See Mamma Every Night (or You Can't See Mamma at All)
You've got to kiss Mamma, treat her right
Or she won't be home when you call
I don't want that kind of man
Who works on the installment plan
You've Got to See Mamma Every Night (or You Can't See Your Mamma at All)

The CD is MCAD2-11122, "Black Coffee and Other Delights - The Decca Anthology." Two CD's, 46 songs total. Good stuff.

HTML line breaks added. --JoeClone, 31-May-02.
