Listen To The Radio

(Nanci Griffith)

I am leaving Mississippi in the evening rain
These Delta towns wear satin gowns
in a high beamed frame
Loretta Lynn guides my hands through the radio
Where would I be in times like these
without the songs Loretta wrote?

(chorus)
When you can't find a friend
you've still got the radio
When you can't find a friend
you've still got the radio
Radio . . . listen to the radio
Radio . . . listen to the radio
I left a handsome two stepped good ole boy in
Tennessee
Now, he's sittin' on the sofa, lookin' for his supper,
wonderin' what's become of me
I've got a double-o-eighteen Martin guitar in the
back seat of the car
Hey, I'm leaving Mississippi . . .
With the radio on

(repeat chorus)

There's a moon across the border in the Louisiana sky
I smell the Pontchartrain, I hear Silver Wings
then, away Merle Haggard flies
That good ole boy will find a Band of Gold
on the stereo
Hey, then my Mama's gonna call and say,
"Where's she gone?"
He'll say, "Down the road with the radio on."

I had a black screen at first. Now I have a frozen picture of Bert in a very red shirt. Now Max slowly comes into view. I guess I have to say Bert looks better. Max, if you're going to be on video, maybe you need to bring MaryMac back as a fashion advisor....

Hey guys! What with all this here brand spanking new technology and all, is there any chance you could find and play some of those audio files that us Mudcatters have sent in over the past months? Mmmmmm?

-- Áine

(P.S. When this new picture stuff is working, it looks great -- the sound quality is definitely MUCH better. Good on ya!)

No, Aine, I think that Mudcat Heaven would have tangible skin, shoulders, laps, eyes to gaze into and to gaze back into mine... real cheeks in person to kiss... and long, lovely laughter by the roomful.

This, then, must be Mudcat Church, where we come to learn how to get to Mudcat Heaven.

I note that Max played the Hamsterdance at least twice during the program. I'd like to know where the Hamsterdance tune comes from. My guess is that it's a variation on a tune Roger Miller wrote for a Walt Disney Robin Hood cartoon. Am I right?

The hampster song came from here: http://www.dancinghampsters.com. My favorite Web site. As I said in the show, its best when you are at work. Turn your volume up, go to the dancinghampsters.com, and go to lunch, locking your office door on your way out. The best part is the look on the faces of your coworkers when you get back.

OK, the archive of the show is now ready.

Hey JOE!!!........yeah, you're right but there is no prize. Mahhxx is only giving prizes to the girls of Mudcat, like alison. Well, he did offer to come here and kick me in the balls........I'm sure he'd do the same for you if you're interested.

But considering the number of times we get requests for "Plastic Jesus" I think Jesusdance should be the official 'Cat dancing page......also much more obnoxious......and I KNOW OBNOXIOUS !!!

Hey Max:

Can you post the information about the Guy Wolfe CDs? Do you have anymore left? What is the contribution? Are there other CDs that you have received that you would part with for a similar contribution?
