Subject: Anybody know Sassafras Tea? From: GUEST,zonahobo Date: 11 May 00 - 03:05 AM I used to know a song that went "Way down yonder in the tall grass .. lived a little girl named Sassafras .. wiggle in her walk and a giggle in her talk and a funny way of putting on the sass.. Chorus: Call out the neighborhood boys .. I'm the one that's making all the noise.. a little cup of tea knocked the heart out of me and that cup of tea was Sassafras" That's all I remember and I sure would like to get the rest of the lyrics. I've looked on a lot of lyric boards and can't find it. I think it was sung in the late 60's by the Kingston Trio or Brother's Four. Anyone remember this song?

Subject: Lyr/Chords Add: SASSAFRAS (Billy Edd Wheeler) From: GUEST Date: 25 Aug 11 - 11:52 PM SASSAFRAS (Billy Edd Wheeler) Way down yonder in the tall grass Lives a little bitty woman named Sassafras With a wiggle in her walk and a giggle in her talk And a funny way of putting on the class They say White Lightning in a jar Clear as white water and hot as fire Well I'm telling you boys that may be true But that glass won't hold Sassafras Refrain: So Tell all the neighborhood boys I'm the one that's making all the noise Cause a little bit of tea took the heart out of me And that bit of tea was Sassafras The first time I kissed her in the city park The Bells started ringin and it got dark The army and the navy couldn't keep the people down Cause they thught it was a hydrogen bomb refrain The second time I kissed her in the swimmin' hole The water got hot and don't you know The steam from the water rose high in the sky And the old swimmin' hole went dry refrain I'm very sorry got to go now Me and my baby gonna take a vow Gonna get married and raise a family Gonna raise 'em on Sassafras Tea Refrain Cords: G C D G C D G D Em Bm C Am D G C D G C D G D Em Bm C Am D G |
