Subject: RE: SONG CHALLENGE! Part 27 From: Mbo Date: 11 May 00 - 06:43 PM Kentucky River SideA frantic voice was screaming 'bout a terrible sight An inferno at the warehouse in the center of town And if they didn't get there fast, the whole place would burn down! When they got there flames were lightin' the sky And had swallowed up the warehouse seven stories high But what the general public had found the most disturbin' Was that the warehouse was a storage place for Wild Turkey Bourbon!! The flames were raging higher and hotter by the minute And gettin' closer to the barrels with the Bourbon in it Suddenly the firemen's ears were filled with warlike commotion Each barrel blowing up like the Siberian Explosion! Oh cruel and remorseless was that bourbon's fate To explode in a sound heard clear across the State And instead of wreaking havoc on some poor person's liver It all seeped out into the big Kentucky river! Down by the river side Down by the river side Down by the river side The tide is boiling booze Down by the river side Down by the river side Down by the river side Hey, if you snooze, you lose! The firemen put out the blaze at long last, I'm told While the river burned like liquid gold Every Mom and Dad were out in boats, with every son and daughter Tryin' to get a taste of that sweet fire water Well the mayor was afraid of a big contamination So he shut down the town's only water-treament station You couldn't even use the water to wash your dirty cars But them spigots got more workout than the local bars! Down by the river side Down by the river side Down by the river side The tide is boiling booze Down by the river side Down by the river side Down by the river side Hey, if you snooze, you lose! --Mbo |
Subject: RE: SONG CHALLENGE! Part 27 From: SINSULL Date: 11 May 00 - 05:07 PM A bottle of bourbon to the winner? I know - not a contest. I am really impressed that you took time out on your birthday to offer this! Happy Day, Aine. |
Subject: SONG CHALLENGE! Part 27 From: Áine Date: 11 May 00 - 12:34 PM By popular demand, this Challenge! is from Roger the Skiffler, who posted this message on this thread. It kind of gives a new meaning to the phrase "Come on in, the water's fine!" -- Áine ====================================
