Subject: Song challenge: Cinderella story From: Pinetop Slim Date: 16 May 00 - 07:14 PM A 17-year-old girl showed up at 4:30 p.m. last Thursday for her job as a waitress at the Hose Co. No. 6 restaurant in Pawtucket, R.I. It comes out that this is the night of her senior prom for Bishop Feehan High School in Attleboro, MA., but she and her boyfriend couldn't afford to go. As word of this gets around, customers and restaurant staff decide to rewrite the story. The barmaid has a gown, just the right size, and happens also to be a hairdresser. The cook has a tux, right size for the boyfriend. Customers chip in to pay for the tickets and rent a stretch limo. By 7:30, she's coiffed and gowned, he's in a tux and they're both in a limo on the way to Luciano's on Lake Pearl, Wrentham, MA, for what has to be an unforgettable prom night. I know it lacks the bite of most challenge material, but there must be a song there somewhere. |
Subject: RE: Song challenge: Cinderella story From: GreatGoo Date: 17 May 00 - 01:00 AM Tphhhththts!!! It reads to much like a county western church song. Still the chorus ain't bad. Is it only in the stories miracles happen Is it only in the stories miracles happen As the magic of the evening comes to play Are the happy endings only In our hearts, and so it seems Or can we bring our fondest dreams into the day A young woman found herself At a crossroads in her life Torn apart by a vanishing hope And another passing day With no choices left to pick from She turned back to what she must Hid her tears inside her heart And went along her way Is it only in the stories miracles happen As the magic of the evening comes to play Are the happy endings only In our hearts, and so it seems Or can we bring our fondest dreams into the day Others too have been here Where the rough edge makes you cry Where our fantasy's are tattered As the world goes swiftly by But we can change the ending Out of kindness, out of love And mend a shattered dream In a very simple way Is it only in the stories miracles happen As the magic of the evening comes to play Are the happy endings only In our hearts, and so it seems Or can we bring our fondest dreams into the day It's the little bits that each of us Can add that make the whole The little things we do To push the hurt away As each gives to the dream We regain what we have lost And prove It doesn't have to end that way Is it only in the stories miracles happen As the magic of the evening comes to play Are the happy endings only In our hearts, and so it seems Or can we bring our fondest dreams into the day Mediocre Goo |
