Subject: More HearMe Tonight! 5/16/00 From: Mbo Date: 16 May 00 - 07:15 PM Well! After Coastalnet so RUDELY disconnected me last night and wouldn't let me on, there's going to be some more HearMe fun tonight starting at 9:00 pm EST. I've got all this music I didn't get a chance you play last night! Weee! The link to HearMe is here! --Mbo |

Subject: RE: More HearMe Tonight! 5/16/00 From: Uncle_DaveO Date: 16 May 00 - 07:34 PM Would that I could, but I can't. Still struggling, dealing with HearMe support. They tried to lay it off to my ISP, claiming that the ISP had to use PPP protocol--they do--or that I had a firewall or transparent caching--I don't--and so forth. I have kicked it back to them. We'll see what kind of excuse they come up with this time.
JAB suggested perhaps not enough memory or not enough hard disk space. Checked. I got 'em in spades. |

Subject: RE: More HearMe Tonight! 5/16/00 From: Jeri Date: 16 May 00 - 08:03 PM Dave, I gotta ask - what changed since the last time you got into HearMe? I DO know that last night, I had to download another update and it took forever to get the message saying I needed to download it. I also recently installed Zone Alarm, and had to agree to accept ActiveX controls. |

Subject: RE: More HearMe Tonight! 5/16/00 From: Dulci46 Date: 16 May 00 - 08:12 PM So far I haven't had any trouble with Hearme except I can'nt figure out why when I sign on it always says "Status Connected" above my name. Does anyone know why it says that? Don't see it above any of the other names. |

Subject: RE: More HearMe Tonight! 5/16/00 From: Jon Freeman Date: 16 May 00 - 08:50 PM Hearme do seem to implement upgrades for reasons only known to themselves from time to time and these do appear to require installation of the latest plugin which should be automatic but may take a little time. Please note the following extracts from the Hearme FAQ page which I kepp asking people experiencing problems to read (particularly note the need to delete entries from the REGISTRY if uninstall and install is necessary and their own comments at the end regarding Netscape). Jon --------------------- Why do I get a gray or white box while waiting for the plug-in to load? top A gray or white box may appear during the first 60 seconds while the web page is loading. After loading, you should see a "Security Warning" window pop up, to which you want to click "yes." Beyond this point, the plug-in should work normally. If you continue to see this gray or white box, please try uninstalling and reinstalling as directed below for an Internet Explorer browser or Netscape browser. How do I uninstall and reinstall VoiceCREATOR Basic using Internet Explorer? top
Open Internet Explorer * A security warning popup should appear automatically, click Yes * A license agreement window should then popup, click "Accept" to continue * You should then see a box on the web page with a list of people (if any) concurrently visiting the web page. You may hear those people talking
How do I uninstall and reinstall VoiceCREATOR Basic using Netscape? top
Open Netscape * C:\Program Files\Netscape\Communicator\Program\Plugins\npjac.dll * C:\Program Files\Netscape\Communicator\Program\Plugins\npevp.dll Open Regedit From your Windows task bar, click the "Start" button and select "Run..." Type "regedit" and click OK In the "Registry Editor" window, click the + (plus sign) buttons to expand this tree hierarchy. Click the + sign next to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE", then next to "SOFTWARE" Next, select the folder labeled "HearMe" Select "Edit | Delete" from the menu Click "Yes" to confirm deletion of the key Close the the "Registry Editor" window. (Your changes are saved automatically) Visit a new web page to reinstall. Visit our demo site by going to http://www.hearme.com/products/voicecreator/tryitnow.html and you will automatically have the software reinstalled You should see the following upon installation: * On that web page, you should see a puzzle piece that's labeled "Click here to get the plug-in", click there * A window that gives you the option to "Get the plugin" will appear, click on "Get the plugin" * A "Java Security" window should appear, click "Grant" * A license agreement should then popup, click "Accept" to continue * You will get a message saying that you need to restart Netscape. Often, so long as the below steps work properly, this can be ignored * You should then see a box on the web page with a list of people (if any) concurrently visiting the web page. You may hear those people talking If you continue to experience problems under Netscape, please submit a bug report and consider following one of the following two options: either try again under Microsoft Internet Explorer or install a new copy of Netscape in a separate directory, and attempt to get the software to work under the new copy of Netscape (we've found that new copies of Netscape work almost all of the time). |

Subject: RE: More HearMe Tonight! 5/16/00 From: Sorcha Date: 17 May 00 - 01:56 AM Wish I could have been there, had a gig until 10:30 Cat time, then a major tornado/hail warning and had to move vehicles and instruments. As usual, nothing happened, except that all the kids (8) showed up to stay in my basement if anything did happen. Oh well, maybe next time. Oh, not all 8 are mine, just friends of my 2 who have no basements. |
