Subject: Hay Fever From: Mark Cohen Date: 16 May 00 - 11:42 PM Well, it's not much, but it's the first thing that resembles a song that I've written in, what, 7 years -- and ya gotta start somewhere, right?... HAY FEVER Got a little trouble breathin' Got a little itch in my nose Every other minute I'm sneezin' Every spring that's how it goes (cho) I got hay fever, in the morning Hay fever all through the night Hay fever, when I'm sneezing Hay fever when I'm wheezing and tight Benadryl's my constant companion Though it always puts me to sleep Claritin, Allegra or Zyrtec Now that's better company to keep Okay, so you have to fudge the scansion a little. And yes, for the purists, wheezing isn't really part of hay fever. So call a doctor. :-) Aloha, Mark |
Subject: RE: Hay Fever From: Little Neophyte Date: 17 May 00 - 07:12 AM So Mark, when you have a patient come to see you who has hay fever, do you dance around singing them your song while they catch the pharmaceutical company drug samples you toss at them? Sounds like a great way to keep you entertained at work. Little Neo |
Subject: RE: Hay Fever From: Little Neophyte Date: 17 May 00 - 07:14 AM Oh by the way, I like your song. In fact I am going to sing it to my sister this morning who is suffering terribly from spring allergies. Little Neo |
Subject: RE: Hay Fever From: TerriM Date: 17 May 00 - 10:07 AM You get hay fever in Hawaii?? That's ingratitude if ever I heard it! |
Subject: RE: Hay Fever From: Little Neophyte Date: 17 May 00 - 01:11 PM Terri, I think they get ukelele fever in Hawaii. |
Subject: RE: Hay Fever From: TerriM Date: 17 May 00 - 03:35 PM more like pakalolo fever! Not that I am accusing our dear doctor ( good parody,BTW) of course, but I lived there for six months and only remember the first couple of weeks! |
Subject: RE: Hay Fever From: Mark Cohen Date: 17 May 00 - 10:43 PM No, I left my allergies on the Mainland. This is a nostalgic song (folk etymology: pain in the nose). Actually, though, there is a high incidence of allergies and respiratory problems here on the Big Island. Biggest culprits are dust and mold (lots of mold in Hilo, where we get 150 inches of rain a year), and also vog (=volcanic smog, caustic chemicals burped out by Madame Pele at an enormous rate). And then, of course, there's all that smoke... Aloha, Mark |
Subject: RE: Hay Fever From: GUEST,Roger the skiffler Date: 18 May 00 - 06:04 AM I sniff and sneeze most of the year, too, worst during the pollen season but there are too many dusty books at work (and at home if truth were told!). My preferred medication doesn't apear to make me drowsier than usual. RtS |
