Subject: RE: Big Mick LIVE on Real Audio From: Brendy Date: 03 Jun 00 - 02:48 AM Shit happens, man. But a suggestion if I may, Big fella. I have noticed a few people here put mp3's of their work up onto their websites or use other sites like Mydocs Online or Driveway.com to promote their work. Advantages here include the re-recording of the work Once, and once you split it into 'songs' or 'tunes', then the work is done, and it saves all the tapes and postage. Nice to see you around again. Subject: RE: Big Mick LIVE on Real Audio From: Big Mick Date: 03 Jun 00 - 02:29 AM Well, this really sucks!! First off, they were running about 40 minutes behind schedule which wasn't a major deal because we were closing the main stage so we could go as long as we wanted. At about 8:50 they asked if they could do an interview with me and I plugged the Mudcat heavily, and demonstrated the correct way to hold a bodhran tipper for THE FAIR ONE. We opened with Billy O'Shea/Whiskey before Breakfast/Soldiers Joy. The latter two feature our hammered dulcimer player. I then plugged the Mudcat again and said special hello's to Max, Catspaw, Liam's Brother, kat and all our Mudcat friends in Ireland, England, Australia and around the world. We then launched into a full one hour set. We had real problems with the cold pulling our instruments out of tune and freezing our fingers, but we made our way through it. One of the major highlights was when we debuted the original song passed on to me by Ed Trickett. It's title is "Along the Famine Road". It is a wonderful set of lyrics that I will post in a thread. We very well may use it on our upcoming CD, in fact we are thinking using it as the title track, providing I can work out the details with the author, one Brian Flynn. At the end of the evening we closed with The Parting Glass and again said goodnights to all of you on the Mudcat. I want to thank you all for the support and the effort you put into trying to access the broadcast. I will try and get a tape of it and send it to all who have posted here. Know that I send much love to all of my Mudcat Friends. All the best, Big Mick |

Subject: RE: Big Mick LIVE on Real Audio From: Big Mick Date: 23 May 00 - 11:49 PM Hi Folkie folks, I am finally able to get back on the 'Cat without crashing...............long story, but I had to reformat and reinstall from the ground up. I managed to save a great deal of data, but several things were lost. I lost my entire ICQ, so I will have to reinstall it and you will have to allow me to re-add you to my list. Also lost my entire inbox in Outlook Express so some of you may have sent email that won't be answered. But resend them and I will answer. Now, back to the topic. We are looking forward to this gig and performing for those of you that choose to listen. I intend to say hello to you all via the internet. It's good to be back Big Mick |
Subject: RE: Big Mick LIVE on Real Audio From: alison Date: 18 May 00 - 08:19 AM Poor Mick, he's confused.. not enough sleep!! It's Friday 2nd June...... anyone who wants a world clock time converter send me an email address and I'll forward you one that is very easy to use... slainte alison |

Subject: RE: Big Mick LIVE on Real Audio From: SingsIrish Songs Date: 17 May 00 - 07:49 PM UK vs East Coast US time: EDT is Eastern Daylight Time (as opposed to EST--Eastern Standard Time--please correct me if I have my terms messed up)...thus referring to the "spring forward" one hour (which happens to occur one week after the UK "springs forward". I think US and UK "fall back" the hour the same weekend.)...with the exception of that one week, the time difference is 5 hours(as I mentioned above). Cheers, SingsIrish Songs PS I hope I'll have a chance to tune in! |
Subject: RE: Big Mick LIVE on Real Audio From: SingsIrish Songs Date: 17 May 00 - 07:42 PM UK is 5 hours later than Eastern time USA...thus June 3rd @ 9pm EDT is 2am June 4th UK.... SingsIrish Songs |
Subject: RE: Big Mick LIVE on Real Audio From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 17 May 00 - 07:00 PM UK time is fine for me - but Mudcat is global, so could someone post a how-to thingy about converting EDT (what's that anyway? Eastern Delta Time?) into other temporal currencies. (And for those of us who miss it, (or recidivists) will it be archived anywhere? |
Subject: RE: Big Mick LIVE on Real Audio From: Kernow John Date: 17 May 00 - 06:47 PM Does anyone know what time this is in the UK? I reckon the whole of Mudcat could be logged into this given the chance. Regards Baz |
Subject: RE: Big Mick LIVE on Real Audio From: Big Mick Date: 17 May 00 - 04:54 PM OK, I managed to sneak in, but I expect this thing to crash any minute so this will be quick.... Thanks to THE FAIR ONE for posting that message. I hope she doesn't mind that I have "come up for air" long enough to tell you folks that we are pretty excited about performing for all of you on the internet. I intend to plug the Mudcat during the performance. We also hope to debut a song that was passed on to me by Ed Trickett at the last Getaway weekend called "Along the Famine Road". Listen in, I think you will enjoy it. As Kath says, it is a prime time. Now, FAIR ONE, who the hell is this Spider Tom chap that is talking about breasts and seeing you taking a shower in that other thread???????? And does that mean he has seen me with you in that shower?????..............LOL. Got to go before this thing blows up. Hope to have it repaired soon. All the best, Big Mick |
Subject: RE: Big Mick LIVE on Real Audio From: KathWestra Date: 17 May 00 - 11:53 AM This is the arts festival in Grand Rapids, Michigan, my hometown (and Mick's). What Mick didn't say because he's such a modest fella is that this is a VERY BIG DEAL. He and the boys will be the featured act on the main stage during the prime time of the festival. We can all say we knew him when... Kath |
Subject: RE: Big Mick LIVE on Real Audio From: katlaughing Date: 17 May 00 - 01:17 AM FAIR ONE There, that's better....just didn't seem right with his name in the title, you keeping him busy in Ozland, and us not even seeing him speak your name in rainbow colours!**BG** |

Subject: Big Mick LIVE on Real Audio From: alison Date: 17 May 00 - 12:57 AM Big Mick has been having a bad time with his computer lately, hence he hasn't been around much..... either that or he's back in Australia having a fine old time with me... you decide......*grin* but he did ask me to pass on a message to you all..... Mick's band are playing at the Festival of the Arts Friday, June 3 at 9:00 P.M. (EDT)...and they have a live video feed. They are playing for the last bracket of the show. I am sure that there are Mudcatters who would like to watch the live feed. You can watch them perform live for an hour by clicking on this link on Friday 3rd June. He also said to send you all his love, and that he'll be back on Mudcat just as soon as he escapes from Australia.... slainte alison |
