Haven't posted for a while so hi to everyone. Just to say I've put up a site for our ceilidh band and there is a page of links to midi and abc sites that I find useful when looking for new tunes. You may have them already or can suggest a load more?

Hi izzymac,

I haven't been here very long so don't know if I should welcome you or not! I like the Mudcat's links. Also for finding midi files, I use The Midi Search Engine.

Mary

Thanks Mary, that is a great site that should save me some hours in searching for tunes in future.

As Mary suggests, the Midi Explorer engine is the one I use 95% of the time. I use the version at http://www.cs.ruu.nl/pub/MIDI/MIRRORS/SMF/help/midi-search.html which also has another 10 or so extra engines if ever you need to find a really difficult one. MIDI Explorer is ruthlessly efficient - typically if it doesn't yield a result you can consider your file as almost unfindable by use of a search robot.

Some time ago somone requested if a Mudcatter could find a MIDI of The Road Runner Theme. I never did find one, but I might try 'meepmeep' in a couple of minutes.

Regards, John

JC's Tunefinder Website is a site I find invaluable in finding ABCs, MIDIs or GIFs of tunes.

John and Jeri,

Thanks for the sites. I had bookmarked both of them, but never really used them. John, the Alta Vista search found one that the MIDI Explorer didn't find!

Question: What are mirror sites, and why do you use them?

Mary
