Hello. Do any of you cats have any chord ideas for the first part of this tune. It is one that I love playing but my guitarist says he can not find any chords that fit except for a continual G and he aint one to hang around on the same chord for more than a second or two. so will he just have to stay with it or can anyone come up with their ideas on how it should be played.

One of my favorite tunes!
Try these chords, each chord letter being one bar...
/: G, G, am, D, em, em, C, D :/
and the second part in e minor...
/: em, em, em, D, em, G, C, D :/ I think these are pretty cool, give 'em a whirl.

Suggest listening to what Michael O'Dhomhnaill does accompanying Kevin Burke on "Portland" - 1st reel, 1st track. Might be available on iTunes.

".. he aint one to hang around on the same chord for more than a second or two". He's not going to be much use for Irish or Scottish music then, where the drone element is fairly prominent. They'd love him in Shetland, though.
