Bumping this back up to the top. Surely, one of our resident experts can provide some background on this song!

How about a first line? I have "The Fisher Lass" and "The Fisherman's Daughter".

Not  The Fisherman's Daughter, I suspect, and maybe not   The Fisher Lass.   For the little that it's worth, all I can manage with respect to The Fisherman's Lassie (assuming that it's the one that contains the line "Oh the Fisherman is a bold young man" ) is this comment from Isla St.Clair's radio programme (Tatties And Herrin': Songs from the NorthWest of Scotland -BBC Radio 2, 7th. June 1995):

"My grandmother, Marge(?) MacDonald from the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides, told me how she'd sing (The Fisherman's Lassie) while standing on the quay at Stornoway, waiting for the boats to come in."

Thanks, guys. I'll have to ask my friend, but I suspect the Isla St. Clair song is the one. The info request came to me with no other information. I'll forward your note to her, Malcolm. I expected to see her at the Pinewoods spring weekend, but she couldn't make it.
