local to where exactly Heather... there are a multitude of irish songs, I've found, which seem to be unique to each area. If it's Limerick, I'll ask the daddy, he'll know, but as he's over there right now, it might have to wait a while.

I wouldn't call that a local song. Children's play somngs, like this, are probably the most universally songs of all, even today.

Probably every town and village in Ireland has at least one song with its name in it. That's what I'd think was a local song. Some of them are sung all over, some just where they come from.

It's a Belfast street song.. so yes it was local for me... many people now stick it in as part of a medley with "I'll tell me ma" (another Belfast street song).

There was a thread on it in the last year... if I remember rightly Philippa put in about 4 verses for it....
