Almost any chantey can be set up for kids. The chanteymen made up their own verses in the first place, so the thing to do is make up verses about the kids and other people who are present.

Sally Racket is another fun one for kids. The Chorus is short -"Haul 'er Away!" So it's easy for young minds to learn, and you can leave out the verses that have sexual double entendre, if you want, though the true meanings would go right over kid's heads anyway. Shanties From The Seven Seas was an excellent suggestion, a few comments up from here. It's in there, as well as in the folksong database.

Not a shanty but...

My son heard this performed at the South Street Seaport as part of a Shanty Afternoon and came home talking about nothing else. This was when he was deep into rap. The song was "The Golden Vanity" and the story outraged him. He was about 12 at the time.
When I played a couple of different recordings for him and sang the version I knew he suddenly developed an interest in my music.
Unfortunately (or fortunately) he started to incorporate snippets of reel to reel folk into his rap recordings, but not the Vanity. It's still his favorite song.

I've thought of teaching the Golden Vanity, but I think I'll wait till next year. I'm trying to end the year on an up-beat!
Thanks to all of you who have made so many good suggestions. I'm especially glad to be reminded that the folk tradition lives on in shanties, and changing words around to suit my audience is fully in keeping with the tradition!
I've found my Hugill book so I'm in business now!
