Subject: Skillet Licker CDs From: Stewie Date: 01 Jun 00 - 03:57 AM For those interested in old timey, I mention that the first 4 CDs of the projected 6 volumes covering the complete recorded works of the Skillet Lickers have now been released by Document - DO 8056 to DO 8059 inclusive. I got mine a few days ago from my old timey supplier in Sydney. Surprisingly, there is as yet no mention of them on the Document website. Fortunately, the Document set omits the corn licker still skits as these are already available on a Voyager CD. All other humorous sketches are to be reissued. There is some overlap, of course, with the single County CD of the Skillet Lickers. The sound is fine. Document is now owned and operated in Scotland, but Johnny Parth is still producing CDs for the label. The good news is that associated recordings by Tanner and Puckett and by groups led by McMichen and other members of the Skillet Lickers are to be the subjects of future reissues. --Stewie. |
