Anais Nin.....KGH. I read this today and it made me think of this spot........ |

Subject: RE: Thought for the day June 5th, 2000 From: Little Neophyte Date: 05 Jun 00 - 09:12 AM Good thought KGH For me I tend to see it as each friend represents a mirror for me in which I discover all kinds of things about myself. Some of the things I see, I like. There are other things I see that I would like to change. And then there are qualities I discover about myself through my friends that I forgot I possessed. I always feel grateful to the friends that come my way, for they become some of my greatest teachers. Bonnie

Subject: RE: Thought for the day June 5th, 2000 From: TerriM Date: 05 Jun 00 - 09:57 AM I read somewhere that most people make NO new friends after the age of about 30....the researchers haven't been here have they? |
Subject: RE: Thought for the day June 5th, 2000 From: catspaw49 Date: 05 Jun 00 - 10:08 AM I think they're nuts Terri......not just here, but I didn't meet Karen til I was 36 and she is not only my wife but my best friend. Additionally. several of the people who have become my closest friends, I didn't meet til after 30. On your thought Hops.......I have always found the diversity of my friends interesting. If I look at the 4 men who have been my truest friends, regardless of time, they weren't/aren't good friends with each other. They are only linked through me. I don't know how to explain that except that each was/is quite close to me, but fills a different niche. Perhaps I fill the same role for them. They all are friendly with each other, but have no relationship outside of through me. I suspect this is the case for many of us. If I look at them, the same is true of their other friends and myself. Spaw |

Subject: RE: Thought for the day June 5th, 2000 From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 05 Jun 00 - 12:48 PM You could say the same about enemies. It's a great feeling sometimes when you identify the people you are up against in some righteous struggle.
I've sometimes thought that what clinches a friendship quickest is when you find you share a common enemy or a hatred for the same things. It's what God made Barry Manilow for, for example. |
