Three wheels on my wagon and I'm still rolling along Cherokees are after me etc.

Can anybody come up with the rest of the words for this Old Song. Or a source of where I can get a copy of it.

Many thanks for your help

This page has an EP of it by the New Christy Minstrels from 1965. It's also on their CD Definitive New Christy Minstrels.

Many thanks Pene, I'll probably order that EP this very night.

Cheers Glen.

Ed (Stewpot) Stewart used to play this nearly every week on "Junior Choice" when I was a kid... I asked for the lyrics here ages ago... and no one seemed to have heard of it....

wasn't the chorus something like

Heggarty, haggarty, heggarty hi
cherokees they never say die
about a mile up the road there's a hidden cave
and we can watch those cherokees go galloping by

slainte

From: Bugsy

3 wheels on my wagon
And I'm still rolling along
Those cherokees are after me
But I'm singing a happy song

CHORUS: I'm singing Higgedy Haggedy Hoggedy Hi
Poineers they never say Die
A Mile down the road there's a hidden cave
Where we can watch those Cherokees
Go galloping by.

2 wheels on my wagon (Etc)

1 wheel on my wagon (etc)

No wheels on my wagon
And I'm not rolling along
Those Cherokees have captured me
But I'm singing a happy song

Chorus.

Cheers

Bugsy

Hi Bugsy, I have been wracking mny brain on this one too.

I think it also has the line in the verses,

"They look mad, things look bad", as I remember it

Three wheels on my wagon
And I'm still rolling along
The Cherokees are after me
They look mad, things look bad
But I'm singing a happy song
I'm singinging

Chorus: Higgity etc.

Yes, that's it!! I knew there was another line in that chorus!!

So there's another Stewpot listener out there!!! Bet you remember the Happy Birthday jingle, Camp Grenada and the Gnu song as well!!

Ah, what innocent days they were..... All week I've been singing Flanders and Swan - the Calendar song - you know, January brings the snow, makes your feet and fingers glow. No one in my office knows what I'm on about?! They've never heard of Flanders and Swan - mind you, one of them has never seen a pound note! Ah, nostalgia isn't what it used to be, is it......
