Subject: Lyr Add: ROCK-A-BYE BABY From: GUEST,Crazy Eddie Date: 06 Jun 00 - 12:47 AM Hi Tony,
My mum used to sing it sometimes, (and my dad didn't drink at all).
CHORUS: Rock-a-bye, baby, so warm in your nest.
He went out on Monday to buy you some shoes,
He went out on Tuesday, he hadn't a bob*,
He went out on Wednesday, in the late afternoon, That's all I've got, and while it is close, it may not be exactly accurate. *For those unacquainted with the slang, a 'bob' was a shilling. "He hadn't a bob" means he was completely broke. |
Subject: Rock-a-bye baby by Charlie Magee From: GUEST,tony_o'kelly@bcit.ca Date: 05 Jun 00 - 06:04 PM When I lived in Ireland I heard the song Rock-a-bye baby sung by Charlie Magee on the Walton's programme on RTE. I am trying to find the words to the song. When I visited Waltons they didn't have the record or the lyrics. Some of the words are: "...his head is just splitting, he said it's the flu, but that's not the real reason between me and you..." Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
