Bill and Allan's Excellent Adventure......bill and Allan are doing the Mudcat round the country trip which has been chroncled in the thread of the same name (several parts) ....They'll be back at Mudcat Radio and on to annap's before heading up to Old Songs. Annap is planning a midweek gathering for any and all who can make it.

Our guys should be pretty tired then and I would like to make it as relaxing as possible for them before they go off to Old Songs. Some good music, good food (cannot compare to Moonchild though) and good friends.

Allan here. Bill and I are looking forward to being there as well. I first met Bill (live and in person) at Anna's first gathering. In fact, this will be the third gathering I have been to there and Bill will have been at all three. Each gathering has been uniquely special and wonderfully unforgettable. Just 8 more days!! I cannot wait to see our boys. Kat, I told you they were sexy! Did Allan get up and make you coffee in the morning? What wonderful memories they are making! I'd love to be there! I will be at Mudcat Radio with the boys Weds. night. I will be going to Old Songs as well. Hopefully I will be pretty much ready to go fairly early Thursday, and not get hung up at home packing all day and into the night Thursday!!!

I think I'm going to keep travelling afterward, up to a festival in Nova Scotia, and then maybe to a Sacred Harp sing in Quebec, and then a visit with family before returning home-My own little excellent adventure! Anybody want to come along?

Only 3 days left! I am so excited. Peter made the Toronto Gathering sound fantastic. I wish I had been there to hear and meet these many Mudcatters. How wondeful it must have been.

Everyone is, of course, invited to Sea Bright Thursday, Thursday night and Friday morning for a barbeque, some water fun. I can only hope the weather is good.

Sadly, it's raining today. I wish I could be there, but I have to work, and I have a meeting, in NYC, at 5PM, to help some people plan a 50th anniversary high school reunion, and my wife has to work Friday and will need the car, and... oh fooey!

Well, now, here I am for the 3rd night in a row connected to my beloved mudcat friends - Tuesday night at Vixen's, last night for the full record-setting five hours of listening/watching (albeit fuzzily) mudcat radio (Fabuluous show Max, et al.), and now thinking of the gathering at annap's. Oh how I wish I was in Sea Bright. I can picture the scene having spent some time on the beaches there. My sister used to live in Rumson, and we hit the beach every time I went there. Now I think of her son, Jeremy - you may recall I posted that he died in a canoe accident in March near Matawan. A beautiful boy of 25 who so loved nature, especially near the water. He once caught a 40 pound striped bass off Sea Bright and was so excited he strapped it in the passenger seat of his Karman Gia and drove it around like a prom date all night showing it off to his friends. He was never particularly concerned with trying to impress the girls, but he did anyway. So it is with a tender, quiet joy that I sit here thinking about the Mudcatters just about now watching the sun set over the river, the music gently flowing up to our darling Jeremy. Hi Guys! I'm sorry. I've been crazy. The boys left early Friday morning. No one else was there, but Bill, Allan, Glenn and myself had a wonderful time. We sat by the river and we barbequed some salmon and steak, oh, and of course, shrimp. Bill said this was a BS session. I kinda felt bad, because I'm just learning the guitar and Glenn is a R'n'R' drummer so we couldn't give Bill and Allan the musical experience we usually have at a gathering, but it was so good to see them and I think they enjoyed the rest before Old Songs. Glenn and I wanted to be there but we're tired too and needed to rest. I'm sorry everyone was too busy, but we'll have another soon, hopefully before the wedding in August. I'd like to see some of you newbies too. We really have fun.

SINSULL, I forgot to mention your wonderful lemon bars!! They were a big hit at my house and the next day I took the rest (not too many) to work and everyone raved. Thank you so much. They really added to our little group...and distroyed my diet!! (I'll never fit into my wedding dress)

Yes, indeed! Our time at Annap's Spa and Relaxation Center was lovely. The pace Bill and I had been maintaining suddenly came to a most pleasant halt. The whole visit was quite a departure from any visit before it (but, then, no two were really alike). Mostly we just talked. Anna and Glenn had long ago heard our "greatest hits", so Bill and I played quite a number of songs that we had played no place else.

I grew up thinking that salmon, which I thought never lived outside of a can, tasted like what catfood smells like. Anna prepared some fresh salmon which fairly melted in my mouth. Gloriously delicious! Glenn helped to grill the steaks to perfection. There were the very finest in veggies prepared as well. Who could ask for more?

Anna was a bit concerned that due to the timing of our visit nobody had been able to attend the gathering. I assured her that, while it is always a pleasure to have a throng of 'Catters around, Bill and I truly enjoyed the opportunity to simply spend quality time with Anna and Glenn.

Two nicer people would be hard to find. Our thanks to both for a most relaxing evening.
