I've seen him perform several times, always a small venue and I'm always blown away by his talent. How often do you find a superb guitarist, poet, great vocalist and a charismatic performer all in one?

He is also a master of the successful "opening line" of a song, one example being "I"m the nightshift watchman for the planet"...

His songs speak to our spiritual journey and expressions of hope. My son is a big fan too and that's something I'm kind of proud of.

Mac

I've only seen him once but it was a great show. I'm a big fan myself. I wonder how he's able to keep up with all of those tunings. He can be funny one minute and sensitive and insightful the next.

A few years back, I received an unmarked cassette tape of one of his albums from a friend by mail, with no explanation. I was mesmerized. It was all I listened to for a week. It was also frustrating because I didn't know who the artist was and I couldn't reach my friend to get any information.

Then one night I saw him on the Tonight Show (it was a while back, so it may have been Letterman)and I knew immediately. I've been a huge fan ever since. He has a way, like a few of my other favorite singer/songwriters (Jackson Brown, James Taylor, Greg Brown and Bruce Cockburn come to mind)of making it all seem so easy and natural. And when you consider what it takes to write a good, meaningful, interesting song that sounds so familiar, and yet so original . . .

He has a nice website with a few audio clips, and apparently all of his released and many unreleased lyrics.

I wonder what it's like to be compared with the likes of James Taylor?

I think the comparison is well deserved....

There is an earlier thread on David Wilcox with a link to his website. I discovered him through the song Chet Baker's Unsung Swan Song (My Old Addiction). Wonderful way with words that really grabbed me.
