Subject: Loyko From: GUEST,Kevin Date: 08 Jun 00 - 09:18 AM Saw, heard and above all admired the Russian gypsy group Loyko the other day. These superb and outstanding artists are supposedly living in Ireland now. Does or can anyone provide more information on them and/or their music? thanks Kevin |
Subject: RE: Help: Loyko From: GeorgeH Date: 08 Jun 00 - 09:58 AM Well they've certainly been living in Ireland for several years now, and they have a very active Irish agent . . If you saw them and admired them as much as you said then I guess you've bought the CDs, so what more do you want to know about them?? As you say, they're wonderfuly musicians, performers and entertainers . . and as you must know they claim a Rusian Gypsy background, although they've polished that music to a VERY high degree (so some would question their "authenticity" . . whatever that may be). I've got their publicity material from their agent, but it doesn't really give much more information. G. |
Subject: RE: Help: Loyko From: GUEST,Philippa Date: 21 Oct 08 - 12:51 PM I immensely enjoyed a couple of Loyko gigs and I was wondering what became of the group. Well, Oleg Pnomarev is now with a larger group in Ireland, Yurodny, which includes brass and strings. I think most of the band members are Irish but the music is Eastern European. Someone told me - I can't vouch for accuracy - that there had been some disagreements among Loyko members, leading to disbandment, and that the other two musicians in that group were now living in Russia. http://www.myspace.com/yurodny |
