Don't know if anyone can help me. Remember that silly tune sang by that silly techno-billy band, The Cartoons? Everybody sing a song, doo-daa, doo-daa, everybody sing a song, all doo-daa-day... (something like this) But I heard it also in a Mel Brooks movie, and a friend told me it was sung also by some Warner Bros cartoon character. So may be it a folk song?

This is probably a variation of "Camptown Ladies" aka "Gwine To Run All Night." Here's a link (click) to the lyrics. If you go to Levy (click) and search for Camptown you'll get the sheet music.

It's also the same basic melody that most people I know use for "Banks of the Sacramento"... so in answer to your question, yup. It is mos' definitely based off of a folksong. As a weird side note, pretty much anything you hear from pre-'60s warner cartoons that isn't instrumental is either a folk song or something from the pop culture of the period (and may have become a folksong since). Gotta love 'em!

CAMPTOWN LADIES (a.k.a. GWINE TO RUN ALL NIGHT)
(Stephen Collins Foster (1826-1864))

De Camptown ladies sing dis song ---------- Doo-dah! doo-dah!
De Camptown race-track five miles long ---- Oh! doo-dah day!
I come down day wid my hat caved in ------- Doo-dah! doo-dah!
I go back home with a pocket full of tin -- Oh! doo-dah day!

CHORUS:
Gwine to run all night!
Gwine to run all day!
I'll bet my money on de bobtail nag --
Somebody bet on de bay.

De long tail fly and de big black hoss ---- Doo-dah! doo-dah!
De fly de track and dey both cut scores --- Oh! doo-dah day!
De blind hoss stricken in a big mud hole -- Doo-dah! doo-dah!
Can't touch bottom wid a ten foot pole ---- Oh! doo-dah day!

(CHORUS)

Old muley come on de track ----------- Doo-dah! doo-dah!
De bob-tail fling her ober his back -- Oh! doo-dah day!
Den fly along like a rail-road car --- Doo-dah! doo-dah!
Runnin' a race wid a shootin' star --- Oh! doo-dah day!

(CHORUS)

See dem flyin' on a ten mile heat -- Doo-dah! doo-dah!
Round de race track, den repeat ---- Oh! doo-dah day!

I keep my money in an old tow bag -- Oh! doo-dah day!

(CHORUS)

As sung by the Christy & Campbell Minstrels and New Orleans Serenaders.

Doodah!
(By Cartoons)

*Everybody sing this song
Doodah, doodah
Well, everybody sing this song
Oh, all the doodah day

*Repeat (x2)

**All the doodah day (ahh)
All the doodah day (ahh)
Well, everybody sing this song
All the doodah day

**Repeat

Let's go
Go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go...
Go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go...
All the doodah day
Let's go

Hit the floor, now don't be shy
Flip, flop until you die
Get me on your ba-b-b-bah
Do your thing say doodah-dah

Hey you, with the mighty group
Sing doodah, doo-doodah

But we don't get a word to say

Just do it anyway!
Do it anyway... do it, d-do it
Do it anyway!

*Repeat (x2)

**Repeat (x2)
