Subject: Doo-Daa, Everybody sing a song... From: Fedele Date: 10 Jun 00 - 09:04 AM Don't know if anyone can help me. Remember that silly tune sang by that silly techno-billy band, The Cartoons? Everybody sing a song, doo-daa, doo-daa, everybody sing a song, all doo-daa-day... (something like this) But I heard it also in a Mel Brooks movie, and a friend told me it was sung also by some Warner Bros cartoon character. So may be it a folk song? |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Doo-Daa, Everybody sing a song... From: Pene Azul Date: 10 Jun 00 - 02:13 PM This is probably a variation of "Camptown Ladies" aka "Gwine To Run All Night." Here's a link (click) to the lyrics. If you go to Levy (click) and search for Camptown you'll get the sheet music. PA |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Doo-Daa, Everybody sing a song... From: SeanM Date: 10 Jun 00 - 02:20 PM It's also the same basic melody that most people I know use for "Banks of the Sacramento"... so in answer to your question, yup. It is mos' definitely based off of a folksong. As a weird side note, pretty much anything you hear from pre-'60s warner cartoons that isn't instrumental is either a folk song or something from the pop culture of the period (and may have become a folksong since). Gotta love 'em! M |
