Subject: Home made music for Mudcat Radio From: Alice Date: 15 Jun 00 - 02:32 PM Max, you asked for family music for the radio show. I am sending you a tape to give to Bill when he passes through there. Feel free to make a copy for Mudcat Radio. It is a tape of my uncle Gene McConnell playing about 23 fiddle tunes, recorded in his home in the 1980's. He plays a version of Red Haired Boy/Beggerman that he calls "The Old Soldier With A Wooden Leg", a little different than how people are used to hearing the tune. There is also Possum In A Gump Stump. Whatever you think would be appropriate. By the way, I listened to the archive and heard you play that horribly scratchy bit of foggy dew that I emailed to you last year from the Victorian Ball. There were definitely now LOW or Blue notes in that!! Yikes!
I will try to send some photos of their Montana adventure along with the tape for Bill. Alice |

Subject: RE: Home made music for Mudcat Radio From: catspaw49 Date: 15 Jun 00 - 02:35 PM I like the Mudcat contributions including relatives and all. Broadens the base and at the same time makes it more family/community feeling. And damn Alice, we have to get Max to play "Possum in a Gump Stump"...after all this IS Mudcat!!! Spaw |
