My nearest and stupidest wiped the computer today and I have had to re-register...it won't let you have a name it's already used so I have changed to the above. Actually, that's fine as it's my ICQ handle also and those of you who supported my maunderings on a change of name some time ago might remember I fancied a change. So since I've had my hand forced, here it is :) Please note anyone who sent a personal message recently, it may have been eaten by the great void that is cyber-space. Please send again to new name. Please also note that DestructoMan did not save my contact list for ICQ, so if you see me hanging about, please come and say hello so I can have friends again. Many thanks Morticia aka TerriM

Morticia, please read the FAQ. It would have been possible to have re-registered (reset your cookie) and you have just committed one of the few Mudcat crimes!

If you ever have registration problems, please ask for assistance in the Help forum.

And that's my wrist properly smacked! Didn't know I'd become criminalised just by changing my name....is there a price on my head or should I just get out of town before sunset?

Changing the name isn't the crime, it's actually re-registering that is the crime....evidently they cannot remove the old accounts, so if people don't seek assistance the backlog of "dead" acconts will grow larger and larger and larger...You can CHANGE your name as long as you keep the same account - and don't mind that the info on the resource page may not keep up with your name changes. Also - the preference has been stated that if using multiple computers you use the same account on all of them, or come in as a guest....resetting cookie should do it for most cases.

If you reregister from scratch using the same name, are you a criminal too (or three?). I have done that a couple of times when nothing else seemed to work -- I have had endless cookie trouble. I am of course happy to share a cell with anyone named Morticia, should it come to that.....
yours, Peter T.

Morticia, just carry on posting - you are still loved!

PeterT only one person can have a particular username although it is quite possible to have that one account (it comes down to the cookie being set) on more than one computer/ for using diferent browsers on the same computer.

As an example, I am only registered once with Mudcat but I have 3 Mudcat cookies on my computer - Windows/IE, Windows/Netscape and Linux/Netscape.

Personally I'm suspicious. I want proof that this "Morticia" is actually TerriM. A living breathing TeriM at that, not some stinking, breathless, grungy zombie lurking here until she can find enough information to kill off as many folk singers and players as she wants to. I will be closing the windows tight tonight, and double checking all locks and basement entrances.

What's the problem Liz? Go to membership and you should see something like "If you already are a member and your details do not appear below, click here". Follow the click here link and enter your code name ie Liz the Squeak, note capitalisation isimportant and with luck having submitted that, you will be prompted for your password. Enter that and you should be a member again.

If you get any further problems, try posting to the Help forum.

Gees woman, you know how to scare people, could you get your hairy butt off my windowsill now please? How many times have I told you about smoking those things.....

Here's a little quiz to find out if she is the real TerriM - just ask her what her tatoos are....... I know, and I can spill when ever I get the right incentive..... And I know WHERE too!!

Me thinks the plot thickens or is that sickens? Is the lovely and dark visaged Morticia really our old friend TerriM, or is she an insiduous agent bent on our destruction? Stay tuned to this thread for the answer. When we'll hear HArdiman say "Don't Shoot! I'm only the fiddle Player!" Either way, welcome back Morticia!! Neil (AKA Irish Sergeant.)

SP, I would guess that MC is built using a relational database and uses one table for user details and another for member details. To delete the member would involve deleting all the members posts or reassigning them to another name.

I humbly propose a cyber-funeral for TerriM. A cyber-memorial service, perhaps. Who's gonna do the cyber-embalmimg, or the cyber-headstone? Who's bringing cookies to the cyber-wake? Oh, hold on, cookies are what started this trouble. A cyber-minister. Cyber-undertaker and a cyber-hearse. And a cyber-hired gun.

My brain hurts now. Mooh.

Fionn, I think that Max designed this site with broswer compatibility in mind - ie no need for specific Browsers, Computers, Operating systems, etc. The only bit on my web space, that is used by Mudcatters unortunately does make these type of demands (not my choice - just Hearme sets the rules and it works orthose who can get there) but I feel a lot of webpage designers should remember simplicity and compatibility before they put there pages up.
