Subject: RE: Radio:Episode 40 Bill and Allan are Here From: katlaughing Date: 22 Jun 00 - 12:15 AM Wow, what an incredible show! THanks everyone!! CH and others: to get into the ICQ chat, you need to have the latest version and have joined the Folkchat before we all start up during the show. I think it requires Max or one of us sending you an invitation. |

Subject: RE: Radio:Episode 40 Bill and Allan are Here From: Night Owl Date: 22 Jun 00 - 09:49 AM awesome.....exciting.....pure magic....thank you again Max!! When can we start placing our orders for the cd's? |
Subject: RE: Radio:Episode 40 Bill and Allan are Here From: Jon Freeman Date: 22 Jun 00 - 11:48 AM kat, it is not necessary to be sent an invitation to join Folk Chat although it does make it easier for someone to join. Any member of the AL can send an invitation - it does not need to be an anministrator - they control other things such as accepting a request from someone to join (Max has got this set at auto accept). To access the ICQ active list, you need to have ICQ 99b (or higher as and whn newer veersions come out). The ICQ version can be checked by clicking on the ICQ button at the bottom left and going to help/ about. Assuming you have 99b, here is how to join without an invitation. At the top of the screen, there are 3 buttons the right one must be down and reading "Hide AL". If it says "Show AL", click it. Towards the bottom of the screen there is a button marked "Find/Add An ICQ Active List". A dialog box will come up. Make sure the Show Only On Line AL option is UnChecked and use the search by Title option. Key in "FolkChat" and Click Next. You should then see a box that lists Active Lists that mached your search. Select FolkChat and click on add list. You will then get a message telling that the active list has been added. Click On OK and Close to other "Ad Lists" box. You are now at the same point as you would be if someone sent you an inviation to join and you accepted to. The next steps apply to both cases and can only be done when the list is on line: Make sure you in a connected mode other than invisible as trying to work in invisble mode will cause "unauthorised" messages (seems to be a bug in ICQ). Towards the bottom of the screen, you should see the entry for the new Active List, FolkChat. If the list is on line, there will be a red dot to the left of it. Click on "FolkChat" and select the "Join List" option. A dialog box will appear. Make sure the selected option is request list membership and click next. The box will show "joining list" and you may notice that the red button in the ICQ list is now flashing green and red. When you have joined, you will be notified to this. Just click next. There should now be a green button next to FolkChat to show you that you are connected. To enter the chat, just above the listing of Active lists, there are 2 buttons side by side. Mace Sure the Active List one is down and near the top of the screen there is a button that says join chat room - just click on that to enter. From then on, depending on your settings, you may need to connect to the Active List each time you connect to ICQ by clicking on FolkChat and choosing connect or you may be connected automatically but either way, once you are connected (green light) all you have to do is "Join Chat" as noted above. A couple of comments: I mentioned this above but it is important that you are not invisible when you try to connect to the AL as you will be told you are not authorised. Common problems are 1. A flashing Red and Green light for a long while - ie. it is not managing to connect and 2. You are connected, click on the join chat button and it won't let you in. In both these cases, the only solution we know of is to disconnect from ICQ completely and try again. Sometimes it has even seemed to be neccesary to actually close ICQ and reopen it before it is possible to join the chat. Nothing much anyone can do about it - it is just one of the quirks of ICQ. Subject: RE: Radio:Episode 40 Bill and Allan are Here From: SDShad Date: 23 Jun 00 - 05:14 PM Áine-- Thanks for pointing that out! I just assumed that Max was assuming that everyone, bein' Catters, just knew that Kevin wrote that beautiful song, but it can't be mentioned too many times. 'Twas our honor to sing it at Easter (well, Maundy Thursday, to be exact). Slainte, Kevin. And as for Equal Opportunity Radio, I for one woulda been thrilled if Max had played both of our versions of "White Snow," 'specially since I learned it off of you. The more the merrier. And garsh, seeing Bill and Allan on M.C. Radio (hey, that can be Max's "rap name") made it easier to have missed 'em on the road. Another time, amigos! Looks like you were havin' a hell of a party there at Mudcat Central. Chris |
Subject: RE: Radio:Episode 40 Bill and Allan are Here From: katlaughing Date: 27 Oct 03 - 10:22 AM Any chance this one show could be put up in the archives, again? Thanks a bunch, kat |
Subject: RE: Radio:Episode 40 Bill and Allan are Here From: SINSULL Date: 27 Oct 03 - 11:04 AM It can't be that long ago. Feels like yesterday. Allan was very sexy with his Mad Mountain Dean look. And Bill was plaited at some point. Did the guitar go to England? There must still be room for some signatures. Thanks, kat. |
Subject: RE: Radio:Episode 40 Bill and Allan are Here From: Allan C. Date: 27 Oct 03 - 11:17 AM The Mudcat Adventure Guitar is currently on a ship somewhere between Virginia and England. I expect its arrival in another week or two. It will once again be reunited with its co-owner, Bill Sables at a future folk festival. As for signatures, there will be no more added to it. The 76 people who signed it were those we met along the way (with the exception of 'Spaw who was afforded an opportunity to sign it well after the fact.) |
