Subject: RE: Fiddle Tunes - Help From: Áine Date: 30 Jun 00 - 06:48 PM Dear Rex, I'd be more than happy to send you a copy. Send your snailmail addy to my email -- doireanne@yahoo.com -- or send it to me in a personal message here on the 'Cat. Suggestion - Copy my name from this message and then click on "Send A Personal Message" in the Quick Links box at the top of this page. Then paste my name in the Send To box on the message. Otherwise, you'll have a heck of a time finding me. I hope you'll like the tape! And thanks so much for the help! -- Áine |
Subject: RE: Fiddle Tunes - Help From: Rex Date: 30 Jun 00 - 06:32 PM If it's not too late Aine, I sure am eager to get to hear a copy of that tape. I worked pretty closely with a Texas fiddler some years ago. (John Clendennen from the Lone Star Playboys) I've picked up a few of those Long Horn tunes. If you'll be willing to loan me a copy I'll give it my best shot. Maybe even find out who the fiddler is. Rex |

Subject: RE: Fiddle Tunes - Help From: harpgirl Date: 29 Jun 00 - 09:44 PM there are some great old timey texas fiddlers! Isn't Kenny Baker a Texan? and what about Bob Wills? |
Subject: RE: Fiddle Tunes - Help From: Áine Date: 29 Jun 00 - 09:34 PM I'll be able to get to the post office on Saturday, so I'll be sending the tape to y'all then. Like I told Sorcha in a PM, it's just an old fella playing some lovely old tunes in his living room (mostly waltzes), with a friend backing him up on guitar. Reminds me of old timey barn dance music -- it's great stuff. -- Áine |
Subject: RE: Fiddle Tunes - Help From: Sorcha Date: 29 Jun 00 - 09:28 PM Jen, to find Aine's personals, ask to send a message to "ine". Then she will be the first one to come up. Don't know why Aine with a fada is not listed on the Aine choices.............. |

Subject: Fiddle/Mandolin Tunes - Help From: Áine Date: 29 Jun 00 - 09:14 PM My father-in-law gave me an old tape of a local Texas fiddler playing some great old tunes, some of which I'd like to learn on my mandolin. Trouble is, I don't know the names of some of them, so I can't search for any tabs or sheet music to learn them. Would any of you fiddlers or mandolin players be willing to help me "name those tunes", if I could provide you with either a copy of the tape or a soundfile? I'd really appreciate it! Thanks in advance, Áine (P.S. There's some really great old timey Texas fiddling on this tape!) |
