Hello, I was wondering if anyone here could help me with the chords to The girl in the woods, as performed by Cisco Houston (or anyone else), I know that the words are here, so I only need the chords. If someone could either post them here or email them to me at nipach@eudoramail.com I would be greatly appreciative. Thanks. Phil

What's the first line? I know one that starts, "Well, when I was a young man, and drove my mother wild, I met a girl out in the woods and she said, Child,...." etc.

I hope I have the line breaks correct this time, Joe!

(Am)When I was a young boy and drove my mother wild,
I (F) met a maiden (G7) in the woods and (C) she, (E7) "Child,
Look deep into my green eyes and (Dm) at my autumn (Am) hair,
When you're a man you'll never see a (Dm) quite so (Am) fair.
Re-(F) member me, re-(C)member (Em) me,
Re-(Dm) member for the rest of your (Am) life."
I guess you have the rest of this. I seem to remeber it was recorded by Frrankie Lane in the 50's. Does anyone know its author? Dr John

Dr John, according to the notes to the Smithsonian/Folkways CD Cisco Houston 'The Folkways Years 1944-1961', the words and music are down to Terry Gikyson and Neal Stuart and copyrighted in 1951. Cisco first recorded it on "Hard Travellin'" FA 2042 in 1954. As you noted, it also says that Frankie Laine recorded it in 1951.

Oops, that should read 'Gilkyson'.
